They may not have made it to the finale, but they made a special place in our hearts!
5 Fan-Favorite Teen Drama Couples Who Totally Should Have Stayed Together

There's nothing worse than falling in love with a TV series as a teen, pulling with all your might for two characters to get (or stay) together, and realizing the show's creators always had a different plan in mind.
Watching your favorite love interests experience a heartbreaking split (or arguably worse, just never get a good shot at romance to begin with) is like a punch to the gut. And while fans of all shows will always find something to disagree with, there are a few instances where we genuinely believe the creators just got it wrong.
That's why we're dishing on the five couples from teen dramas on TV that really should've ended up together.
Scroll to see all the couples from our favorite teen dramas that definitely should have stayed together!

The CW
Gossip Girl — Dan Humphrey and Vanessa Abrams
Dan Humphrey, played by Penn Badgley, never hid the fact that he despised the privileged Upper East Siders in Gossip Girl. Yet, he was obsessed with Blake Lively's character, Serena van der Woodsen, anyway.
We get it: teen emotions are fickle, and hormones can overrule logic. But they come from two completely different worlds, whereas Dan's best friend, Vanessa Abrams, really understood him and even shared similar views and interests. Dan could've had someone who loved him for him, but instead, he chose a more "glamorous" option. Men, am I right?

The CW
One Tree Hill — Lucas Scott and Brooke Davis
Love triangle fans, this one's for you! In One Tree Hill, Sophia Bush played Brooke Davis, a character you can't help but feel sorry for. She fell head over heels for Lucas Scott, portrayed by Chad Michael Murray, two separate times. And on both occasions, her so-called best friend, Peyton Sawyer, stole her guy!
Despite Lucas seeming to really open up around Brooke, he was never able to move on from Peyton. I'm sorry, but Peyton wasn't a true friend, and Lucas made the wrong choice.

Warner Bros. Television
Gilmore Girls — Dave Rygalski and Lane Kim
Nothing infuriates me more than the way Keiko Agena's character, Lane Kim, was treated in Gilmore Girls, particularly when it came to her love life. Throughout the series, Lane is trying to date like a typical teen while battling the constraints and expectations her traditional mother places on her.
Then, she meets Dave Rygalski, a stand-up guy who goes out of his way to land her mom's approval. But after he goes away to college in California, their long-distance relationship doesn't work out, and Lane winds up marrying Zack Van Gerbig, her bandmate, and getting pregnant with his twins. Lane's ending is just sad.

The CW
Smallville — Clark Kent and Lana Lang
Smallville is an "interpretation" of the Superman story that already took plenty of creative liberties. Nonetheless, the show didn't use its freedom to let Clark Kent and Lana Lang end up together and instead stuck to the Lois Lane plot line.
The show lasted 10 whole seasons, and throughout it all, Clark, played by Tom Welling, and Lana, portrayed by Kristin Kreuk, had real chemistry. Despite that, its creators still gave Lana a tragic fate (forcing her to leave since she'd been infused with too much Kryptonite).

The CW
The O.C. — Seth Cohen and Anna Stern
Finally, everyone who's watched The O.C. knows that Adam Brody's character, Seth Cohen, was always captivated by Summer Roberts, portrayed by Rachel Bilson. And in what seems like a true happy-ending fashion, Seth eventually "gets his girl."
The only problem is that Summer never exactly treated Seth with respect. Meanwhile, transfer student Anna Stern actually seemed to appreciate him for who he was. They had a real connection that would've been a lot more wholesome, especially for a teen TV drama.
