A headshot taken last year of the new-ish mother who knows how to rock a pixie cut was uploaded to a Facebook fan page Sunday afternoon that included a body positive message, not from the actress, but still a solid one to read nonetheless.
Looking fresh-faced in the 2014 Vanity Fair photo (maybe because of her apple cider vinegar as face wash) the shot was captioned with a meaningful monologue, again not from Scarlett herself, that led to bigger conversations about the way everyone should view themselves and to love themselves from within first.
One star who did share some body positive insights straight from her mouth (while simultaneously fighting body shamers) is tennis superstar Serena Williams, who has responded to the hater before. While making an appearance Monday morning on Good Morning America the pro athlete and multi-hyphenate shared some insight on how she views herself. “It’s me and I love me and I learned to love me and I’ve been like this my whole life, and I embrace me, and I love how I look. I love that I’m a full woman and I am strong, and I’m powerful, and I’m beautiful at the same time, and there’s nothing wrong like that. It’s so important to look at the positives, if I get caught up looking at the negatives it can really bring you down.” PREACH.
The living legend of tennis — who happens to be going for history at this month’s US Open where, if she wins, will become the first woman since Steffi Graf to complete the Grand Slam (winning all four Majors in one year) since 1988 — followed that body positive statement up with a succinct ace to those hating on her looks on social media. “I don’t have time to be brought down, I’ve got too many things to do. I have Grand Slams to win, I have people to inspire, and that’s what I’m here for.”
“I have Grand Slams to win.” YAAAS QUEEN!! Game, set, match forever and ever for Serena.
