CBS’s Mom Has Donated Their Entire Emmys Campaign Budget to Planned Parenthood

Plenty of people in Hollywood are willing to show up to marches and speak at rallies (which we’re totally grateful for, BTW), but when it comes to putting your money where your mouth (or, er, belief-system) is, it’ll take a lot to top the folks behind CBS’s Mom.

The cast and crew have donated their entire Emmys campaign budget to Planned Parenthood (i.e. the money they would have normally spent on trying to nab themselves an Emmy nom/win), amounting to an impressive $250,000 headed to support the key services the organization provides.

During the announcement on CBS This Morning (according to Refinery29) with star Allison Janney, co-creator Chuck Lorre explained, “When we discussed with Warner Bros., the production company behind Mom, what our Emmy campaign might be — a lot of money — I just blurted out, ‘Let’s give the money to Planned Parenthood.’ And they took me seriously.” Whether he meant to be serious or not, it ended up being a pretty impressive charitable move.

Following stars like Halsey who’ve made massive donations, hopefully acts like this will help people realize that there are many reasons why it’s so important that we continue to stand with Planned Parenthood as it faces further cuts and defunding.

What do you think about the fact that Mom is donating their entire Emmys campaign budget to Planned Parenthood? Let us know @BritandCo!

Chances are, you vaguely remember your Sex Ed class in high school. The awkward shuffle of students into the “health” class you all know is code for sex ed. The ancient TV playing videos from the 80s of incredibly cringey (and totally out of date) lessons on the birds and the bees. Maybe they mention STIs (which were definitely still called STDs back then) and why teen pregnancy is the greatest sin on planet Earth (And it was always the woman’s fault, wasn't it?), but they were quick to gloss over sex ed for literally anyone other than heterosexual men and women. Oh, and all of this was being “taught” amidst the giggles of teenage boys, who undeniably made it uncomfortable to ask any questions (provided the genders weren’t segregated, that is).

Obviously, this isn’t a practical education for anyone in present-day society. Sex is way more complicated than anything taught in high school, and far too many people are learning about STIs, disorders, pregnancy prevention and how to actually have great sex way too late in life. We’re covering the basics for everyone — LGBTQ+ included — so you can be a more informed intimate partner.

Sex ed doesn’t end in high school. Here are 5 important tips you may have missed.

1. Tips for safer sex practices.

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio / PEXELS

There are several different ways to have sex — and everyone’s preferences are different. If you’re not comfortable engaging in certain practices, remember: you never, ever have to do anything you don’t feel comfortable with. Consent is key, and just because you've consented to one doesn't mean you've consented to all. We’re going to walk you through safe sex practices for a variety of ways to have sex, so you can make informed decisions that feel right for you.

1. Anal and vaginal sex

This type of sex has the highest risk of contracting an STI or HIV. If you’re having anal sex or vaginal sex, it’s important to use internal condoms or external condomsand a water-based or silicone-based lube. “Make sure that you use a different condom with each partner or when a penis or dildo/sex toy is moved between the vagina and anus,” healthcare company FOLX says. “Infections such as herpes, genital warts, syphilis, and monkeypox can be transmitted through regular skin-to-skin contact. Barrier methods such as condoms, dental dams, or latex gloves can reduce your risk of contracting these infections, but will only cover the protected area.”

2. Oral sex

Oral sex is when someone uses their mouth to stimulate the genitals of another person. With oral sex, there is a low risk of STI or HIV transmission, but it’s still possible to contract unwanted infections. “Using an external condom on a penis during oral sex can help contain body fluids such as semen, ejaculate and pre-ejaculate and reduce the risk of STI transmission,” says FOLX. “Condoms can also be used on a sex toy/dildo, especially if [you plan to use it] with multiple partners without proper cleaning.”

For transgender folks who recently underwent bottom surgery, avoid oral sex until you are fully healed. Anyone who has bleeding gums, mouth ulcers, a sore throat, or has gotten dental work done recently should also avoid oral sex.

3. Rimming

Rimming is when someone uses any function of their mouth around/in someone’s anus. According to FOLX, “this can function as a way to prepare for anal sex and/or as a fun, pleasurable sexual activity in its own right. Rimming has an extremely low risk for HIV, but it’s possible to get hepatitis A or bacterial infections like gonorrhea.” Reduce your risk by practicing good personal hygiene and using a barrier method like a dental dam, especially if you or your partner haven’t had a recent anal STI check.

4. Fingering

“Fingering is when someone uses their hand, finger, or multiple fingers to stimulate and penetrate their partner’s vagina and/or anus,” says FOLX. “Fingering is considered low-risk since there’s only a small chance of spreading an STI. There is a small chance that STIs can spread through fingering if you have any cuts on your hands or fingers, or if there are internal tears in the anus or vaginal tissues.” If you engage in fingering, reduce your risk by practicing good hygiene and washing your hands with soap and water, especially if you’re fingering multiple partners. You can also use latex gloves or finger condoms to cover your fingers for extra protection.

2. The lowdown on STIs.

STIs are sexually transmitted infections (AKA STDs or sexually transmitted diseases) and can be transmitted through different kinds of sexual activities. While there are dozens of unique types of STIs, common STIs to test for include gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, trichomonas, and HIV. If you’re sexually active, it’s important to be tested for STIs, especially since you may have an infection or disease that doesn’t present any noticeable symptoms.

“If left untreated, STIs can cause serious health problems, including cervical cancer, liver disease, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), infertility, and pregnancy problems,” says thewellproject. “Having some STIs (such as chancroid, herpes, syphilis, and trichomoniasis) can increase your risk of acquiring HIV if you are HIV-negative and are exposed to HIV. People living with HIV may also be at greater risk of getting or passing on other STIs.”

For more comprehensive information, visit thewellproject.

3. STI prevention and testing.

Rachel Wakefield

Luckily, there are plenty of ways for us to prevent the transmission of STIs. Many people request any intimate partners to be fully tested for STIs before engaging in sex with them, which is a great way to feel safe and comfortable during sex.

Obviously, anyone with a penis is advised to wear a condom during any form of sex, especially oral, vaginal, or anal. It’s a simple way to reduce the risk of both partners, which is a win for everyone. For women seeking oral sex or rimming, we recommend wearing Lorals, a FDA-cleared, wearable STI protection to keep both you and your partner safe.

Sex toys/dildos are another great way to reduce the transmission of STIs, but be sure to clean before switching between partners. When searching for the right sex toy(s), make sure they are made of body-safe materials, like medical-grade silicone. We love Bellesa’s line of sex toys because they are made from premium quality silicone, are waterproof and are USB rechargeable. Like they say, “good orgasms are a lifestyle!”

Remember: you need to test for STIs! Regularly! Fortunately, testing for STIs has (literally) never been easier. While you can be fully tested for STIs by your Primary Care Physician or OB/GYN, there are some great at-home tests if a doctor isn’t your jam. stix offers a range of vaginal and sexual test kits delivered straight to your door. We also love Cheeky Bonsai for at-home UTI testing and relief. Oh, and you can order both of these brands on Amazon. Talk about a win-win!

4. Different forms of birth control.

This ones for all the ladies out there. If you’re not looking to get pregnant now (or ever), then practicing safe sex is a MUST. If you are having sex with someone who has a penis, make sure they have a condom on. It’s seriously the simplest way to ensure there are no babies in your immediate future. In addition to condoms, birth control is the best way to ensure you’re as pregnancy-protected as possible.

You can read up on all of the different types of birth control here, and visit your OB/GYN to get started. If you don't have a doctor who can prescribe you birth control, try NURX or Hey Jane (they offer medical abortions, emergency contraception and UTI/yeast infection treatment too).

A morning-after pill (AKA emergency contraception) is another way to protect yourself against unwanted pregnancy, particularly if you believe your partner ejaculated in you during recent sex. Get fast, discreet emergency contraception delivered straight to your door with Julie, or head to your local CVS or Walmart if you simply cannot wait.

5. How to have pleasurable sex.

Photo by Edward Eyer / PEXELS

Pleasure looks different for everyone, but there are some resources you can reference for better sex. Practical Intimacy gives great advice on how to have incredible sex as a woman, but really, the tips are simple. Give yourself time to get aroused, engage your whole body and your mind, let go of the pressure to orgasm, ask for what you want and make sure your partner is seeking to please you, too. Sex should never be one-sided, and we should all seek to close the orgasm gap, one mind-blowing orgasm at a time.

If you need tips on where to start, we highly recommend watching Angel Ardito’s TikToks. Her tips are informative, practical, and sure to make you (and your partner) much happier people.

And remember: you are way sexier than you think! Negative self-talk deserves no place in your mind or your bedroom, so get it out of there!

This is just the basics of sex ed, and we’re guessing it’s probably more than you ever learned in school. Educating yourself is imperative to engaging in safe sex, so do your research, figure out what’s comfortable for you, vocalize your needs and most of all — have fun.

Quiet luxury had a beautiful run in 2023, but the mob wife aesthetic has entered the style group chat and is telling everyone their days of embracing side character energy is over. When I think of this trend, I can picture Elvira Hancock from Scarface and Carmela Soprano from The Sopranos in all of their glamorous glory. Also, while she may not have been a mob wife exactly, we can't forget Fran Drescher's style in The Nanny her gaudy and expressive style continues to have impactful influence.

If you haven't gotten your fill of all things Vanderpump Rules, Hulu is coming to your rescue with a brand new show, Vanderpump Villa. The series follows the hand-picked staff of Lisa Vanderpump’s luxury French villa as they live and work together, navigating every extravagant desire of their wealthy guests. As you can expect, when beautiful people go with Lisa Vanderpump and her business ventures...chaos follows.

The news came out one day after Bravo aired the final episode of Vanderpump Rules’ season 10 reunion, in which fans saw the highly anticipated confrontation between Racquel Leviss and Ariana Madix months after news of Leviss’ and Tom Sandoval’s affair broke. The affair, which captivated the nation and has since been dubbed “Scandoval,” subsequently ended Sandoval’s decade-long relationship with Madix and the close friendship between Madix and Leviss.

The finale episode brought in series-high ratings for Vanderpump Rules and Bravo with over 4.1 million viewers over a three day period. This, combined with Hulu’s latest venture into more unscripted territory, likely marks the reason for Vanderpump Villa, and TBH we’re not mad about it.

If you've got questions, though, we totally get it. Here's everything we know about the new series so far.

What is Vanderpump Villas?

Image via Instagram

The Vanderpump Villas — called "Chateau Rosabelle" on the show — are actually the Chateau St. Joseph, located in Mazerolles-du-Razès in the South of France. While the property is owned by Delphine and Frédéric Roubieu, Lisa Vanderpump and her curated these experiences for guests as a sort of "pop-up" business. However, the show follows whether or not Lisa wants to dive in head first and make this a more permanent part of her extensive hospitality portfolio.

Will "Vanderpump Villa" be an ongoing series?

Image via Bravo

We're not sure yet! So far, Hulu ordered an initial 10 episode season, though that can certainly change. Plus...we still have to find out if Lisa even wants to continue this new international business venture!

Who is in the "Vanderpump Villa" cast?

Images via Hulu

Vanderpump Villa brings us a slew of new faces this year! The staff includes everyone from the Executive Chef to the housekeepers. The full cast is Stephen Alsvig, Gabriella Sanon, Anthony Bar, Caroline Byl, Marciano Brunette, Priscila Ferrari, Hannah Fouch, Andre Mitchell, Terry Hall, Eric Funderwhite, Grace Cottrell, and Emily Kovacs.

When will "Vanderpump Villa" premiere?

Image via Hulu

An official date is still in the air, Hulu states the show is "Coming soon," and Entertainment Tonightreports we can expect the show to premiere this spring. For now, catch up on all things VPR on Peacock or live on Bravo.

Watch The FULL "Vanderpump Villa" Trailer Here!

Vanderpump Villa | Extended Preview | Hulu

Lisa Vanderpump can be seen telling her carefully selected staff that they'll need to provide topnotch service to guests in France, but chaos quickly ensues. We expect to see moments where fun, arguments, love, and luxurious dining fills our screens.

If Vanderpump knows anything, it’s how to pick an incredible reality TV cast – so you know that Vanderpump Villa will be incredible. Can't wait to watch along with y'all! 😘

I've been trying all year to get SNL tickets, and I finally got to sit in on an episode of SNL season 49 the weekend of February 3! I was super excited for this episode of Saturday Night Live because Ayo Edebiri was the host and I'm a huge fan of The Bear. So I knew if I wanted my shot at getting an SNL standby ticket, I had to really work for it! Because of the demand, Saturday Night Live tickets in 2024 can be hard to get, which is exactly why I've laid out how I got my standby tickets and how you can get yours! Keep reading for all the details.

Is it possible to get SNL tickets?

Image via Chloe Williams/Brit + Co

Yes, it's possible to get Saturday Night Live tickets in 2024! The SNL ticket lottery opens back up in August, so until then, you can use the standby portal to try and get a spot in a taping. Reservations for the Saturday Night Live virtual standby line open at 10 am EST the Thursday before a show, and it's super important to be on the page at least five minutes beforehand. As soon as the clock strikes 10 and the reservation opens up, you have to move quickly to claim a spot.

If you're successful, you'll get an email confirmation (and later your SNL standby number for the in-person line). If it sells out before you can get a ticket, you'll have to try again next week. The February 3 show was my third or fourth attempt, so don't lose hope!

How long is the wait for SNL tickets?

Image via Chloe Williams/Brit + Co

Your wait for SNL tickets totally depends on your standby number. (I will point out that I got SNL tickets to the dress rehearsal, so my experience will be tailored towards that performance!). After confirmation emails are sent out Thursday, everyone has to be in line and checked in Friday night by 6:30 pm. This is where the waiting comes into play because they don't hand out the physical standby cards until 12:01 am on Saturday morning!

Honestly, the wait wasn't as bad as it could have been because before the online portal, you had to wait in line (without a pre-approved number) all night long! It was cold, but I was with a friend *and* NBC gave out tomato soup and hot chocolate, so honestly, I had a great time. I made some friends in line, and we were allowed to go into NBC studios periodically to walk around or go to the bathroom.

The last two hours were definitely the hardest, but once they started handing out SNL standby cards, it flew by! I was originally number 16, but since some people didn't show up, I got bumped up to 12. I'm super lucky that I was so close to the front; I was in a cab by 12:30 am and in bed by 1:30 am.

How many people get into SNL standby?

Image via Chloe Williams/Brit + Co

In the standby line, I was surrounded by people who'd gotten SNL tickets multiple times, and it seems to be the general consensus that around the first 40 people always get in. The line for standby cards was definitely over 100 people, but I'm not sure more than 60 made it all the way through to the show. How many people get into SNL standby really depends on how many regular audience members don't show up, so the number will change.

I wore jeans, a hoodie, and sneakers to wait in line so I'd be comfortable, but for the actual dress rehearsal, I wore a sweater, purple trousers, and black Chelsea boots. I also had some fun with my makeup and added some purple eyeshadow to my bottom lash line! I ended up being a little too warm in my coat (I definitely didn't need it in the studio), so if I could change one thing, I'd have worn a lighter coat that was easier to carry.

What time is the Saturday Night Live dress rehearsal?

Image via Will Heath/NBC

For the Saturday Night Live dress rehearsal on Saturday, we had to be checked into the NBC Studios store by 6:30 pm. Once we were all lined up in numerical order, it got a little tricky because they moved us in groups of ten through security, into a room, and up the stairs. This whole process took about an hour and a half because of how many people there were. But once we got upstairs and into the elevators, it was a quick shot up into the studio and into our seats!

Another important thing I'll point out: through no fault of anyone, we ended up getting jumbled in the elevator, which meant I got pushed back to number 18 instead of number 12, and got a worse seat. It was still a good view, but it was admittedly not as good as it could have been.

What happens during the SNL dress rehearsal?

Image via Will Heath/NBC

Once we were seated, the party began! This was definitely the coolest part of the whole experience, but not in the way I expected. I loved seeing Ayo Edebiri (especially since we could see her before she came on camera) and Jennifer Lopez, but my favorite part was how the whole crew worked together. As soon as the show had a commercial break, everyone was rearranging the sets and moving cameras.

I spent the better part of a decade doing theater, and have so much respect for all the crew members who put this show on every single week! It felt like there was a role for everything: someone held a flashlight the whole night, the hair and makeup artists made sure the cast looked perfect, and there was even a designated employee who grabbed Ayo's hand and ran her offstage for her quick change every. Single. Time.

The biggest different between SNL dress rehearsal and the live show is that we got to see about 45 minutes of extra content! The dress rehearsal is the actors' and writers' chance to see what an audience resonates with. Our version of the Weekend Update featured a lot of banter about which bits landed and which ones should have gotten more laughs, and overall, the energy in the room felt just a bit more relaxed.

The most memorable skits were the Dune 2 popcorn bucket pre-tape, where Ayo Edebiri and Marcello Hernandez sang about wanting to lose their virginity to the unfortunately-designed merch (which went viral last week), and the School Hypnotist sketch, which was the absolute best use of Ayo's stage presence. Overall, I really enjoyed getting to see the SNL dress rehearsal, and I'm definitely going to put in for more SNL tickets throughout the rest of the season!
