You Might like This Makeup Tutorial Site More Than the Kardashians’
The Kardashians recently launched their own websites, complete with a behind-the-scenes peek into their lives — beauty routines included. Their makeup tutorials have been buzzed about for several weeks now and even though you have to pay a small monthly fee to access most of them, people want to understand just how Kylie gets her signature pout or what Khloe’s secret beauty weapon is. Honestly, we weren’t THAT surprised about the Kardashian sisters’ tutorials — and the polarizing reviews that came along with them — but we were surprised when this actress-comedian-female empowerer debuted something similar for her site.
Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls just stepped into makeup tutorial land, but their take is a lot different from Kim + krew: it’s in the form of a new show called The Other Side hosted by makeup artist Annamarie Tendler. The (free) show focuses on guests “as they explore the spooky, supernatural good times that come with doing make-up, telling ghost stories and obsessing about Leonardo DiCaprio.” Told you it was a littttle different than the Kardashians’, although we would love to hear their ghost stories, too.
First up on The Other Side is funny gal Nicole Byer from MTV’s Girl Code, who sets out with Annamarie to achieve the perfect red lip. *Spoiler alert*: Annamarie’s trick is using a lip liner that’s a different color than the lipstick — forget everything you’ve heard about trying to find the perfect lip liner/lipstick color match — and in this case, she’s goes for a red pencil with blue undertones paired with an orange-y red lipstick. Mind = blown.
In the four minute episode, Annamarie said she doesn’t believe in beauty rules, which we love — people should feel free to experiment without feeling restricted because of what they “think” is right or wrong when it comes to makeup. But, in the midst of all the makeup talk, the ladies dish on something a bit more serious: ghosts. More importantly, if they would be down to date a ghost — and if so, which ghost? Let’s be honest: nothing goes better with lipstick tips than sharing ghost boyfriend goals.
