Kids these days have it sooo easy as Potterheads. If you were an early Harry Potter-adopter, you had to wait months — no, YEARS — for each new book or movie. The anticipations was almost too much. But today’s youths will never know the struggle because they have it all — house themed books, cosmetic lines based on the characters and J.K. Rowling’s Twitter account (she really is an international treasure). And now first time readers get magical interactive Harry Potter books for the iPad! The best part? These ebooks are available on iTunes ($10) for a little more than a galleon.
You heard that right. Apple teamed up with J.K. Rowling to make some seriously awesome versions of the HP books. This series will come with moving pictures (like ACTUAL wizard books) and extra details hidden in the text. For example, not only will you get to see a Howler come to life in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, you’ll also get to scroll over annotations written by Jo filled with great insider info about certain plot points (i.e. the backstory of the Daily Prophet you never knew you needed). There’s also a way to play an interactive game of quidditch!
Imagine seeing the half blood prince started randomly start writing notes in your book? This could be just the tip of the iceberg for interactive ebooks. What’s next? A Lord of the Rings ebook with an interactive map or a feature that lets YOU throw the ring int Mt. Doom? Be still our nerdy hearts!
