I’m that type of person who loves Valentine’s Day. My favorite color is pink and my favorite shape is a heart, so basically, what is there not to like? Bring on all the celebrity crush cookies, the heart-shaped photo booths and chocolatey treats! If you’re like me, you might have several long-distance BFFs you want to send valentines to.

That's why this year, I’m going to go beyond the usual card and send out care packages. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of a care package, you would know that it’s one of the best things ever. Just knowing that this small gesture is probably going to make someone’s day fills my heart with sparkles and rainbows.

So for this Valentine’s Day, we’re showing you how to make these conversation heart piñata care packages that you can actually mail to your besties! These adorable treats are sure to surprise your best friends and make for some cute Valentine's Day decor too. Let’s get started!

Materials and Tools:

Instructions:

  1. Fold a piece of cardstock in half and draw half a heart along the creased edge. Cut out.
  2. Use that heart shape to trace two shapes on cardboard. Cut out.
  3. Cut 2-inch-wide strips of cardboard. Tape the strips around the sides of one of the cardboard hearts.
  4. Fill the heart with goodies. We used candy, poppers and confetti, naturally.
  5. Tape the box closed with the second cardboard heart.
  6. Trace another heart out of paper (so that you’re not using a paper heart with a crease in it). Glue that heart to the cardboard.
  7. Cut one-and-a-half-inch strips of felt and fringe. Glue the fringe all over the cardboard and trim.
  8. Cut out letters in printable. Trace onto a different colored felt and cut out.
  9. Glue felt letters on heart to make a phrase.
  10. If you’re mailing the piñata heart, write your friend’s address on the back.

Alright, it’s time to go back to your kindergarten days when you learned how to cut a heart! Fold a piece of cardstock in half and draw half a heart along the creased edge. Cut out. Use that heart shape to trace two shapes on cardboard. Cut out.

Cut two-inch-wide strips of cardboard. Tape the strips around the sides of one of the cardboard hearts.

Fill the heart with goodies. We used candy, poppers and confetti, naturally. After all, sugar and sparkles are the way to a best friend’s heart.

Tape the box closed with the second cardboard heart. Trace another heart out of paper (so that you’re not using a paper heart with a crease in it). Glue that heart to the cardboard.

Cut one-and-a-half-inch strips of felt and fringe. Glue the fringe all over the piñata. You’ll probably want to trim as you go, so your piñata looks like a heart.

Cut out the letters in the printable (or freehand them if you're feeling adventurous). Trace onto a different colored felt and cut out. Glue the felt letters on the heart to make a phrase. Bring up a timeless inside joke or stick to the classic conversation heart phrases.

Voilà!

If you’re mailing the piñata heart, write your friend’s address on the back.

Aaaaand you’re done! Seriously, it can't get much cuter than this.

Oops, looks like some confetti already spilled!

I know EXACTLY who this one is going to!

Playing with makeup can be so fun; testing out new products, experimenting with unlikely colors, and finding your personal lineup of favorites are all perks that come with diving deep into the beauty world. However, with the “de-influencing” on the rise, it’s evident that consumers want to back on products, and that includes the beauty industry.

In an effort to cut back, we’ve found a beauty secret that lets you ditch your dailymascara for good — lash growth serum! By growing out your natural eyelashes to their fullest and most luscious state, the days of buying new mascara tubes will be long forgotten. However, not all lash serums are created equal. To help you find the best bang for your buck, we tapped doctors and experts in the field to reveal what makes a quality lash serum.

What should I look for in a lash serum?

Image via Grand Cosmetics

Trying to find a reliable new beauty product can be overwhelming — especially in the digital age when a Google search can churn out millions, if not billions, of results. Thankfully, we were able to lean on Dr. Anju Methil, MBBS, DVDM, MD, who specializes in Cosmetic Medicine, for the stand-out components to both look for and avoid in eyelash serums. When looking for key ingredients, Dr. Methil advised, “It is essential to look for components like peptides, which act as building blocks of proteins and can potentially bolster lash health.” She went on to include that “biotin is another popular ingredient that supports keratin production — a vital protein for hair strength and growth.”

However, knowing what to avoid in lash serums can be just as important as what to gravitate towards. Dr. Methil suggested, “Choosing serums free from parabens, sulfates, and fragrances, which can be irritants, is advisable. Quality over quantity should be the guiding principle, leaning towards serums with a transparent ingredient list backed by clinical research.”

So, which lash serums should you try? We complied the ultimate top recs from none other than Amy Schumer’s trusted dermotolgist, Dr. Jodi LoGerfo, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, DCNP, along with a handful of personal favorites of choice lash serums below.

The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Lash and Brow Serum

Dr. Jodi LoGerfo said, “The Ordinary Serum Multi-Peptide Lash and Brow Serum One is of my favs! It is super lightweight and well tolerated for my sensitive eyes. It is also not greasy. This serum makes lashes thicker and fuller (and works on brows too.)" And it's affordable? Count me in!

Lash Spell Enhancing Eyelash Serum

Dr. Jodi LoGerfo also suggested Lash Spell. She said, “Lash Spell’s Enhancing Eyelash Serum Extremely mild eyelash is a serum that's exceptionally effective. Lash Spell strengthens your lashes with polypeptides and vitamins in addition to nourishing ingredients.”

Babe Lash Essential Lash Serum

Dr. Jodi LoGerfo praised this product for being vegan, cruelty-free, AND effective for "dry, brittle lashes or lashes that have been damaged from lash extensions." She explained that the amino acids act as a strengthener and growth agent for your lashes — plus, they're "super nourishing!"

R + F Lash Boost

I had a friend use Rodan + Fields’ lash growth serum, and after a few months she contemplated trimming her eyelashes — they had gotten that long. If you want to experience serious growth, look no further. According to Allure, there was a bit of controversy over this serum that ultimately lead to a class-action lawsuit in 2022. The lawsuit revolved around the use of an ingredient called "isopropyl cloprostenate" and alleged that product requires proper disclosures and FDA approval. Since then, the ingredient is still listed on the website, so be sure to take caution and beware of potential side effects.

Latisse

Latisse isn't your average over-the-counter, beauty story lash growth serum. Dr. Jodi LoGerfo said, “Latisse is a prescription FDA approved topical that we prescribe to increase eyelash length, thickness and darkness in patients with thin lashes. It is applied daily to the base of the eyelash at the lid and has minimal side effects.”

According to Allure, Latisse has a similar ingredient to the Rodan + Fields lash growth serum. The main difference? It seems like Latisse went along with the FDA requirements, offering more up-front information about its potency.

Healthy + Happy Perfect Lash

Paired with a powerful system of peptides and nutrients, fuller lashes are in the near future for those who use Healthy + Happy’s serum. One five star reviewer even mentioned that they had seen longer and fuller lashes after only one month of usage.

MILK MAKEUP KUSH Lash + Brow Enhancing Serum

MILK has a commitment to clean beauty and only creates products that are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, making this the perfect brand for the conscious customer. Using hemp-derived cannabis seed extract to hydrate and condition lashes, plant peptides to create the appearance of lash thickness, and quinoa to support healthy hair follicles, these clean ingredients let you feel good about your lash growth.

Vegamour GRO Lash Serum

85% of Vegamour users claim that their products are “life changing,” so it’s no wonder this serum has won countless awards. Keep an eye out for lengthy results in as little as 30 days with this almost-magic lash potion – er, serum.

Pixi Large Lash Ultra-Conditioning Lash and Brow Serum

If you’re looking for an eyelash growth product that won’t break the bank, this option from Pixi is a great starter serum. Priced at only $18 online from Target, Pixi’s formula uses peptides, plant extract, and vitamins to help you to achieve the stronger and thicker-looking lashes of your dreams.

GrandeLASH MD Lash Enhancing Serum

This serum is ophthalmologist-tested and Grande Cosmetics tests their products extensively for safety, giving you the confidence to use their serum on such a sensitive area of your face. The brand’s promise to deliver pristine products alongside glowing reviews from satisfied customers are what make this serum a top choice of ours.

Bridgerton season 3 will make you happy, sad, and everything in between — at least, according to Adjoa Andoh. Andoh stars as Lady Danbury on the hit Netflix series, and following the launch of International Delight's limited-edition Bridgerton-inspired creamers and iced coffee, we got up close and personal with the actress at the NYC “Coffee & Courting” dating event on February 22. Andoh gave us the inside scoop on her most memorable dating story, and why Bridgerton viewers can expect to see Lady Danbury and Penelope Featherington grow closer than ever this season.

"I think Lady Danbury sees a lot of her young self in Penelope," Andoh tells Brit + Co's Chloe Williams. "I think she's sort of an overlooked item who is shoved in one direction just as Penelope is an overlooked item who no one thinks is ever gonna get married. So both of these women in their young lives have had to understand that if they are gonna survive, they have to live on their own natural brilliance, strategy, intelligence, and gifts...She's team Penelope all the way. She's cheering for her."

Image via Liam Daniel/Netflix

Adjoa Andoh repeatedly talks about making season 3 of Bridgerton for the wallflowers — and she has some advice for the wallflowers who might be watching. "Our time will come," she says. "We just need to wait until the person who is the fabulous person comes...And the other thing I would say is don't wait and pine. Hang out with your friends have a fabulous life. The world is amazing and interesting and just dive into your curiosity. Think about what's fabulous about you and lean hard in on that, and don't wait for someone else to give you the confirmation that you are as fabulous as you should know you are."

Last year's Queen Charlotte gave Bridgerton fans the chance to see Lady Danbury (as well as Queen Charlotte and Violet Bridgerton) in a whole new light. For Andoh, the prequel allowed her to explore details about her character she hadn't thought of before. "Doing Queen Charlotte filled in a lot of the early life for me in concert with Shonda's enormous storytelling brain," she says. "So I could take all of that into season three. And the exciting thing about season three on that basis is that the audience is up to speed with [everyone]."

Not only does the series show viewers their favorite characters' pasts, but it also helps us understand their motivations. "Now because of my beloved Lord Ledger — actually, I had such a crush on Keir [Charles], the actor that played Lord Ledger, [he] made me giddy — because the audience now knows that Lady Danbury had this great love of her life, you understand the investment she has in the Bridgerton family more because they are his grandchildren," she says. "So I am invested in them because I loved him."

Image via Adjoah Andoh/Instagram

Speaking of love, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to ask Adjoa Andoh about her own memorable dating stories, and she immediately took us back to being a teenager. "I was a punk rocker — I still am inside — I saw The Clash and I loved them at 14 and it transformed my life," she says. "There was a boy who was a punk and I mean, it was as rare as seeing, I don't know, snow in August. He was a punk, I was a punk, and I just yearned for him. Eventually I drew him to me and I cooked him spaghetti bolognese."

"But no one had told me that you don't cook the Parmesan cheese in the bolognese sauce, so it was a new experiment for me," she continues. "He ate about four spoonfuls of it and he just went 'Adj, I'm sorry, I can't eat this.' And I took a mouthful of it and it tasted like well, food that had gone down and come back up, let's just say that. So, yeah. But he loved me."

Andoh might have had a hard time figuring out the bolognese sauce, but she knows how she likes her coffee — with cream! "Creamer has got a smack of indulgence about it," she says. But in addition to adding it to her morning cup of Joe, Andoh's already dreaming up new dessert recipes as well: "What I would do is I would go super strong chocolate ice cream — a Belgian chocolate ice cream, something like that — mascarpone, and then [put] creamer on top. You could go International Delight English Toffee Creamer, but I would probably go International Delight Berries & Créme Creamer just for the contrast."

And how would Lady Danbury take her coffee? "Strong with a little [splash] of creamer."

We are now two for two on expecting Taylor Swift to announce Reputation (Taylor's Version) during an acceptance speech and getting an album announcement instead. After showing up to the 2022 VMAs in a "Look What You Made Me Do"-inspired outfit and announcing Midnights, Taylor Swift wore a black and white ensemble on the 2024 Grammys red carpet before telling the world her new album The Tortured Poets Department is coming this spring! Here's everything we know about the new Taylor Swift album.

What is Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department?

Image via Taylor Swift/Instagram

Taylor Swift's new album (which is also referred to as TS11) is called The Tortured Poets Department. Taylor Swift announced the album while accepting the award for Best Pop Album at the 2024 Grammys. While we don't know the exact vibe of the album, over the last year, we've gotten quite a few clues about what we can expect! Just like "Daylight" at the end of Lover sets up Midnights, I think "Dear Reader" sets up The Tortured Poets Department.

Taylor's official announcement features beautiful language that evokes the same emotion "The Lakes" does, which makes me believe TTPD will be similar to Folklore and Evermore (maybe it'll even serve as the third sister album Swifties thought we'd get in 2021?). But there has also been some discussion about another pop album that could be even more nuanced than Midnights. Well, during her Eras Tour show in Sydney, Australia she played yet another round of suspicious surprise songs.

While sitting at the piano, Taylor Swift takes her earpiece out and calls attention to the keyboard. "Do you hear that?" she says (via TikTok). "My damn keyboard's playing a synth sound." She then does what she almost always does when dropping an Easter egg: she smirks.

"That sound is how the album starts, mark my words," one comment reads. Another says, "That smirk tells me everything I need to know."

What is the theory of Taylor Swift's double album?

Image via Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images

Throughout her stay in Sydney, Australia for the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift has been dropping lots — and I mean lots — of twos. @v_swiftie_ points out that in addition to holding up the number two while announcing The Tortured Poets Department, she's been playing more surprise song mashups than normal, and Taylor Nation has been posting Instagram stories featuring the number 2 instead of the number 13. Suspicious, Tay, very suspicious.

What is The Albatross about?

Image via Taylor Swift/Instagram

During one of her Eras Tour shows in Sydney, Australia, Taylor Swift announced a new version of The Tortured Poets Department featuring exclusive bonus track "The Albatross." This new album already has some crazy track titles — all with pretty noteworthy meanings.

According to Collins Dictionary, if you call someone an Albatross, "they cause you great problems from which you cannot escape, or they prevent you from doing what you want to do," while a Bolter could refer to someone bolting out of a relationship (or bolting from a restaurant to a car like in this viral clip 🤨).

Meanwhile "The Alchemy" refers to the continual process of trying to turn something into gold — remember how Taylor Swift spent 6 years saying her relationship with Joe Alwyn was golden? Buckle up Swifties, TS11 is going to be a wild ride.

What does loml mean?

Image via Taylor Swift/Instagram

At first glance, the twelfth song on The Tortured Poets Department, "loml," means "love of my life." Some fans were wondering if the song was a nod to Harry Styles since his Harry's House finale track is "Love of My Life" (the album also features a track named "Daylight" which is another funny connection to Taylor Swift). But Bonnie & Emily from ChatsAndReacts have got me thinking about the track in a whole new way.

Emily says that while Taylor might sing about the love of her life at the beginning of the song, she also has the potential to switch it up each verse. "Lie of my life" and "loss of my life" are HEART WRENCHING, and totally something Taylor would write.

When is The Tortured Poets Department release date?

Image via Neilson Barnard/Getty Images for The Recording Academy

The Tortured Poets Department is dropping April 19, 2024. At the Eras Tour shows in Tokyo, Taylor Swift explained when she started working on TTPD. “I’ve been working on Tortured Poets since right after I turned in Midnights,” she said onstage. “So, you turn in an album months in advance…and I’ve been working on it for about two years. I kept working on it throughout the U.S. tour and when it was perfect, in my opinion, when it was good enough for you, I finished it.”

"Soon you'll get to hear it, soon we'll get to experience it together," she continued. "I'm over the moon about the fact that you guys care about my music...Everyone’s like, ‘Why do you make so many albums?’ And I’m like, ‘Man, because I love it! I love it so much! I’m having fun, leave me alone.'”

The brand new album follows Speak Now (Taylor's Version) and 1989 (Taylor's Version). When Midnights was announced after Fearless (Taylor's Version) and Red (Taylor's Version), I wondered whether she'd have a two rerecordings, one new album pattern and it looks like that's what we're getting!

How many songs will be on The Tortured Poets Department?

Image via Taylor Swift/Instagram

Taylor Swift dropped The Tortured Poets Department song list February 5, and it's too good to be true! Here's the full tracklist for TS11:

  1. Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)
  2. The Tortured Poets Department
  3. My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
  4. Down Bad
  5. So Long, London
  6. But Daddy I Love Him
  7. Fresh Out the Slammer
  8. Florida!!! (feat. Florence + The Machine)
  9. Guilty as Sin?
  10. Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?
  11. I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
  12. loml
  13. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
  14. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
  15. The Alchemy
  16. Clara Bow
  17. Bonus Track: The Manuscript
  18. Bonus Track: The Bolter
  19. Bonus Track: The Albatross

Will The Tortured Poets Department have any featured artists?

Image via Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Yes, The Tortured Poets Department will feature Florence + The Machine on the song "Florida!!!" and Post Malone on the song "Fortnight." And after Taylor Swift teased a variety of collaborations by posting handwritten lyrics from artists like Harry Styles and Lorde, Swifties are wondering if The Tortured Poets Department will be the "collab album" we never got.

Another clue that leads me to believe this is true is the fact that the title of this album is so much longer than her other titles — and she refers to herself as "Chairman" of the department. Who are all the constituents?! Are they all the same artists who left Scooter Braun's management last year? Only time will tell, because as far as I'm concerned, surprises aren't out of the question until the TS11 era is over!👀

How can I buy The Tortured Poets Department?

Image via Taylor Swift store

You can pre-order a bunch of different versions of The Tortured Poets Department on Taylor Swift's website right now, includingThe Tortured Poets Department CD + Bonus Track "The Manuscript", The Tortured Poets Department CD + Bonus Track "The Manuscript" andThe Tortured Poets Department Cassette + Bonus Track "The Manuscript".

What is a tortured poets department?

Image via Taylor Swift/Instagram

Taylor Swift has spent years talking about her anxiety, her sleepless nights, and her emotions. "My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, tick, tick of love bombs / My veins of pitch black ink," she writes in her official Instagram post. "All's fair in love and poetry." My guess is that The Tortured Poets Department features a bunch of artists who all feel very deeply and have a similar ethereal, larger-than-life approach to their music.

As far as the name, it looks like The Tortured Poets Department could be referencing her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn's group chat name — "The Tortured Man Club" with Paul Mescal (who starred in Normal People while Joe starred Conversations With Friends. Both series are based on Sally Rooney books).
