Every Celebrity Breakup That's Left Us Heartbroken In 2023

Leonardo DiCaprio and Gigi Hadid

2023 has been a rough year for celeb couples, to say the least. The past six months have been a lot of things, but a period of romance certainly wasn’t one of them. Here are all of the celeb relationships that ended and (truly) broke our hearts this year.

Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford (May)

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

The Grammy award winning singer and The Neighbourhood frontman ended their relationship less than one year after sparking romance rumors.

"We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends," Eilish's rep told Us in May. "All cheating rumors are false. Both are currently single."

This pair of high school sweethearts have only been married for three years, but they've been together forever. The former couple share two children together — Ezer Billie White and Dolores Wild White. Page Six reported that Timlin filed for divorce on Thursday, noting that neither responded to comment on the separation.

Brandon Jones and Serene Russell (May)

ABC/Stewart Cook

The season 8 Bachelor in Paradise couple (who were seemingly meant to be) called it quits after less than one year together.

“After many months, today we have ultimately decided to end our engagement,” they wrote in a joint Instagram statement on May 8. “We have tried to work privately on our relationship which has been incredibly challenging in the public eye...We are deeply hurting and can only ask that there be no hate. The best path for us at this time is to try and move forward and heal from this as individuals,” they concluded the statement alongside photos and videos of happy moments from their relationship."

Cher and Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards (May)

The Mamma Mia! musical matriarch and the music executive split — a pairing which boasted a 40 year age gap — amicably split after six months of dating and lots of engagement rumors.

“AE and Cher were never engaged and that ring he got her was just a gift,” a source told Us at the time. “However, they had gotten very close and his son would even go over to Cher’s house in Malibu to play. Their relationship was real and they split a few weeks ago. There’s no bad blood between them and they’re on good terms.”

Kim Zolciak-Biermann and Kroy Biermann (May)

The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum filed for divorce from the retired athlete after 11 years of marriage and rumored bankruptcy. Reportedly, the Biermanns' home was seized by the bank due to insufficient payments, fueling the rumor mill even further. The relationship has been extremely dysfunctional since then, with Kim calling 911 just yesterday over an alleged kidnapping.

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn (April)

Joe and Taylor❤️ on Instagram: "The winning couple for album of the year at the grammys!!🥰🤩 I love them!❤️ #taylorswift #joealwyn #swifties"

We are *sobbing* over the end of our girl T. Swift’s six year relationship. Though the couple hasn’t gone public with the news, social media is buzzing with sources and evidence of the pair’s split.

The Top Gun: Maverick star and the model split in April after three years of dating and raging cheating allegations. We can't help but think that Sydney Sweeney may have something to do with this...

Diddy and Yung Miami (April)

The City Girls member told The Cut in April that the twosome “had our own situation” for a period of time, but are no longer romantically involved.

“We’re still friends! We’re still good friends! But we’re single. That’s not my man,” the rapper said. “We were f–king with each other hard. We were together every day at one point. He supported me, I supported him. I’ll let the internet call it whatever they want to call it.”

Halsey and Alev Aydin (April)

The "Walls Could Talk" singer filed for full custody of their son Ender after ending her relationship with Aydin earlier this year.

Peter Weber and Kelley Flanagan (April)

The Bachelor Nation couple called it quits months after rekindling their romance in late 2022.

Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval (March)

You know we HAD to include this messy breakup. Madix broke up with her Vanderpump Rulesco-stars after nearly a decade together, following the reveal of an explosive affair between Sandoval and fellow co-star Raquel Leviss. Oh and BTW – we’re totally #TeamAriana.

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth (March)

The actress and media mogul has called it quits with her now ex-hubby of 12 years. Though the split seems amicable, as per their joint social media posts, we’re still in mourning.

Sophia Culpo and Braxton Berrios (March)

Leon Bennett/Getty Images

The TLC star confirmed her split from the NFL player after two years together. "I have a new apartment that I'm moving into," Culpo explained in a TikTok video. "I just have to go back to New Jersey and get all of my stuff, which I've been kind of avoiding just because moving out of a long-term relationship where you guys, like, lived together — that's really hard."

Leonardo DiCaprio and Gigi Hadid (February)

Andreas Rentz/Getty Images

The rumored couple officially confirmed their relationship status on February 20 – and that status is no longer together. The Oscar winner (who's notorious for dating young women) and the supermodel called it quits after several months of seeing each other.

"They both have incredibly busy careers and lives, and although they tried to make time for each other, it really wasn’t enough to make things work," an insider explained. "Gigi has no hard feelings towards Leo and she thinks he’s an incredible guy. Their timing just couldn’t align, and they’ve decided to go their separate ways."

Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun (February)

Emma McIntyre/Getty Images for The Recording Academy

“Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple,” an insider shared about the couple of two years.

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott (January)

The notoriously on-again, off-again couple are off once again. The scorned rapper and Lip Kit pioneer share two children, daughter Stormi and a son Aire, and remain strong coparents.

We’ve been heartbroken one too many times, so we’re requesting every celeb power couple to stay in love while our hearts heal.

Decorating my apartment is one of my favorite new hobbies! I get to be creative, searching for small space-friendly home decor that still brings personality and life to every room. My apartment may not be my forever home, but that doesn't mean I can't create my own indoor piece of heaven. Since I know I can't convince my boyfriend that every inch of our apartment can't be Barbiecore, I can add tasteful pops of color here and there. I've looked high and low for the most beautiful coffee tables, worked to stylishly organize every room, and slowly added more feminine pieces — especially from lifestyle brand Love, Whit — to my space.

What I Love About Love, Whit

One of the first things that attracted me to this brand is it's unwavering commitment to providing cute lifestyle and home decor products that don't feel cheesy. Sure, the pieces are feminine, but they're crafted in a way that respects adulting — AKA they're as functional as they are aesthetically-pleasing.

Image via Love, Whit

Not everyone creates a lifestyle brand, but Whitney Kearney isn't everyone. When I asked the founder about what inspired her to create this company, she said, "I've always believed in the power of a thoughtfully curated space and the healing powers that it can give off, especially as creatives." Keeping creative burnout in mind, she believes it's important for people to invest in what makes them feel good, especially at home.

She also said, "I wanted to create a lifestyle shop to reflect my love of pretty things and my deep-seated passion for a well-balanced lifestyle. More than that, I wanted to create a wellness platform dedicated to helping you feel your best and to become the best version of yourself."

Image via Whitney Kearney

Whitney's all about making sure Love, Whit's customers have a positive brand experience. More than that, she said, "We want our customers to feel inspired, uplifted, happy, and true to themselves with our products inside their homes. We want them to feel beautiful and capable of anything. We want them to feel confident enough to show up boldly and beautifully in their life"

As someone who's purchased two vases from the shop already, I can personally say they've added a spark of personality and fun to my home.

We're already looking forward to September with Olivia Rodrigo's upcoming album, GUTS. In her first album since her debut Sour over two years ago, we're stoked to see what the Grammy winner has in store for her sophomore release.

Keep reading for everything we know about the album so far.

When does 'GUTS' drop?

www.instagram.com

Rodrigo announced via Instagram that GUTS will release on September 8, less than three months away! In the meantime, we'll be listening to her first single from the new album, "Vampire," as soon as it releases.

When does "Vampire" come out?

Starting on June 30, "Vampire" will be streaming on all music platforms.

Who is Olivia Rodrigo?

Rodrigo, 20, rose to fame during her role as Nini on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. A talented singer and actress, Rodrigo was launched into the public spotlight thanks to a suspected love triangle between her, her (now ex) BF and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series co-star Joshua Bassett and singer Sabrina Carpenter.

While rumors have since been laid to rest, Rodrigo’s talent shined and the singer sent TikTok spiraling with the release of “drivers license,” followed by Sour in 2021.

Summer may be in the air, but that doesn’t stop our favorite brands from planning their fall releases. Rare Beauty *just* announced their fall lineup of products, and it’s certainly caught our eye.

The beauty brand, founded in 2019 by singer and actress Selena Gomez, boasts a comprehensive roster of makeup products guaranteed to make you glow. You’ve probably heard of them thanks to their viral liquid blushes and TikTok-famoustinted SPF moisturizer, both of which are definitely believe the hype.

The upcoming launch will include three brand-new products to Rare Beauty’s collection, the Brow Harmony Precision Pencil, Perfect Strokes Longwear Gel Liner and All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Stick. The products seem to stick to a traditional fall palette, with lots of browns, gold, and deep reds.

Image via Rare Beauty

In her own Instagram post, Gomez shared that “this collection is all about self-expression and self-acceptance. It’s not about how you look but how you see yourself. Love what you see.”

The brand is known for its impeccable shade range and easy application, so we're certainly looking forward to all of the new colors and formulas joining the Rare Beauty family.

While this may be the fall line, we're getting some '90s vibes from all the shades of brown. IDK about you, but I definitely plan to channel my inner Rachel Green with these colors — just maybe minus the on-again-off-again, will-they-won't-they of her relationship status. 😉 And while I'm at it, I might as well plan some cute fall 'fits to go with these, too!

You can pick up these stylish new eye colors starting on July 6 at Sephora — I know I'll be there!

When Miley Cyrus debuted "Flowers," it felt like the ultimate empowering song of the year. Lyrics like "Yeah, I can love me better than you can" make it clear she's leaving her past love behind and embracing her relationship with herself. While we know paradise didn't last for the former couple, adding to a long list of celebrity breakups, some people were convinced their divorce was the result of Liam's alleged fling with none other than actress Jennifer LawrenceGASP! However, after years of speculation, JLaw is finally sharing her side of the story.

Why were Miley's fans convinced Liam had a fling with Jennifer Lawrence?

When Jennifer appeared on an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in 2015, she shared that she and Liam had an off-screen kiss while filming one of the Hunger Games movies. This led fans to develop theories that this happened while Liam and Miley were still together.

Once Miley released the music video for "Flowers," fans believed the stunning gold dress Miley wore towards the beginning was her way of hinting at the alleged fling. Jennifer *did* wear a gold dress to the premiere of Hunger Games in 2012, so we can see how fans would make this connection.

What does Jennifer have to say about the Liam Hemsworth rumors?

But per E! News, Jennifer appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen yesterday to answer Andy's burning question about whether "Flowers" was referencing the alleged fling. She told him, "Not true, total rumor." But, she did mention the kiss again. In her own words, she said, "We all know Liam and I, like, kissed one time. It was years after they broke up. So I just assume [the music video] was a coincidence."

Did Liam and Miley ever address cheating allegations?

While Liam has kept quiet about the rumors, Miley was a little more vocal about allegations that she cheated. She didn't dive into too many details, but wrote a statement via Twitterin 2019 that said, "I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating."

Rumors can be juicy — we'd be lying if we said we didn't like reading about them — but this doesn't always mean they're true. Only Miley, Liam, and Jennifer knows what truly happened (if anything happened at all), and that's what ultimately matters.

What do you think about Jennifer dispelling the rumors? Let us know in the comments!

I’ve gotta be honest. I’m pretty picky, especially when it comes to my alcohol. I prefer strong flavors over faint, still over sparkling – you get the gist. Regardless, when the opportunity comes to test dozens of canned cocktails, you know I had to jump on it.

Luckily, several of my friends and family graciously volunteered their taste buds for some good ol’ cocktail sampling, and after many rounds of beverages we found the best-of-the-best for all of your seasonal soirées.

1. Our overall favorite

Image via Hoop Tea

Hoop Tea Spiked Iced Tea ($20/pack)

This certainly came as a surprise to me. Not only am I not an avid iced tea drinker, but I didn't even know of Hoop Tea until a month ago. All that has changed, and my entire group of testers agree that the OG Spiked Hoop Tea is a necessity for any event.

2. For rosé fanatics.

Image via Roseade

Roseade Rosé Lemonade ($15/pack)

Convert your liquor-lovers to rosé-reverends with this light cocktail. I mean – who wouldn’t love a rosé-lemonade hybrid?

3. If fruit is your jam.

Image via Spritz Society

Spritz Society Sparkling Peach Cocktail ($20/pack)

I am a tried-and-true fruit lover, and was particularly excited to try all of the citrus-flavored beverages that came my way. There were so many great options, but I loved this peach one by Spritz Society.

4. If you’re looking for summer in a can.

Image via Hoop Tea

Hoop Tea Watermelon Spiked Iced Tea ($20/pack)

When I think of summer, I think of two things: iced tea and watermelon. This drink is the best of both worlds and is sure to please even your pickiest of guests. (And I am very serious on the “pickiest guests” part. My only-drinks-beer-and-doesn’t-eat-fruit dad thoroughly enjoyed his watermelon Hoop Tea.

5. You prefer a classic margarita.

Image via SouthNorte

SouthNorte Margarita ($14/pack)

You may need to add a salted rim, but otherwise this marg is the real deal. I tried at least five other regular margaritas, and this one will instantly transport you to the beaches of Mexico.

6. You’re craving a cosmo.

Image via QNSY

QNSY Sparkling Cosmo ($16/pack)

If Cosmopolitan’s are in your DNA, pick up a QNSY Cosmo in (almost) any NY or NJ food and beverage shop. Oh – and this is a family-run business, so you can rest assured that you’re drinking something great.

7. You want to impress someone.

Image via Emily Winiker

C.Cassis CC Spritz ($10/pack)

Grab what the New York Times calls a “spritz with a Cassis pedigree” and impress even your chicest guests.

8. You value quality ingredients.

Image via Volley

Volley Sparkling Tequila Cocktails ($10/pack)

With clearly labeled ingredients, no added sugars, and organic juice, Volley sets the standard for what all alcoholic beverages should be. I’m partial to their mango and spicy ginger flavors, but all of them should be at your next gathering.

9. All you need is a vodka soda.

Arielle Levy

You & Yours Tangerine Vodka Soda ($15/pack)

I mean – who doesn't need a vodka soda on the go? This is the perfect refreshing cocktail to pair with any beautiful evening.

10. In case you’re heading to the ranch.

Lone River Original Ranch Water ($10/pack)

Ranch water is a very popular ATM, and we totally get the hype. Whether you’re a longtime ranch water fan or newbie, I think you’ll be into this canned version.

11. If you prefer something refreshing.

Image via SouthNorte

SouthNorte Matador ($12/pack)

You can’t go wrong with a bit of tequila, pineapple, lime, and club soda! Chill it or throw it over ice for a refreshing summer beverage.

12. You’re looking for a drink that packs a punch.

Image via Mia Yakel

Tip Top Daiquiri ($40/pack)

Don’t be fooled by these tiny cans. These bevvy’s pack a punch, so beware at your next group gathering!

13. You need something that your Grandma and BFF will like.

Image via Rogue Spirits

Rogue Spirits Cucumber Gin Fizz ($18/pack)

All the Grandmothers I’ve ever known are gin-girlies, so bring this refreshing gin fizz to your next family function and leave everyone asking: “Where did you get that?!”

14. Something you can pick up at just about any store.

Image via Cutwater

Cutwater Strawberry Margarita ($11/pack)

Cutwater is everywhere nowadays, and for good reason. They have a great variety of options for everyone in your group, but I must recommend their strawberry margarita.

15. The perfect beach accessory.

Fischer’s Island Lemonade Original ($14/pack)

Lemonade is a crowd-favorite and, IMO, a beach necessity. If you’re looking to trade in your Mike’s Hards for something that you didn’t drink in college, try a Fischer’s Island Lemonade.

We're inching closer and closer to the release of Barbie, and we can hardly wait! But in the meantime, we're loving all the cute and cheeky BTS moments the cast keeps sharing. If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's the fact that Margot Robbie is literally the perfect Barbie, looking totally darling in every single scene in her dreamhouse and beyond.

But, inquiring minds have been wondering...how did the film managed to capture Barbie's iconic arched feet?! Is it CGI or simply a trick of the cameras? Lucky for us, Margot decided to dish on the viral foot scene once and for all.

How Margot Robbie's 'Barbie' Feet Came To Be

Margot spoke with Fandango, sharing that it really is her own feet in the trailer. She explained that she just walked up, saying, "We had little sticky bits on the floor — double-sided tape for the shoes, so they wouldn't come off — so I could get my feet out of them."

But that's not all! In order to create the appearance of those perfectly arched, iconic Barbie feet, she said there was one secret weapon: a bar! She elaborated, "I was holding onto a bar, but that's it. I wasn't in a harness or anything like that. I just walked up, kind of held onto the bar above [the] camera."

Margot wanted to make sure she performed her own stunts instead of relying on a double. We love an actress who's committed to the bit!

Color us impressed! We can't wait to see what other stunts Margot pulls out of her bag of tricks once the movie finally hits theaters next month.

What can't you wait to see in Barbie? Let us know in the comments and follow us on Instagram for more updates!
