3 Discontinued Costco Food Items Everyone Misses (& Would Petition To Have Back)

Costco is the only place where you can buy everything from groceries and gym equipment to engagement rings and emergency meal kits, all during the same shopping trip.
The membership-only warehouse club is wildly popular among Americans for its shockingly wide array of merchandise, bulk deals, and low prices. However, if you're a Costco fanatic, you might be shocked to learn about three different food items you won't be able to find in stores this year.
Scroll to find out which Costco food items were discontinued for 2025!

First up on the list is the Costco churro. This fried dough pastry was initially introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic before it was taken off the food court menu. Churros were then added back in 2021 with a new recipe, but in 2024, it was removed for good.
The large chocolate chip cookie, a classic dessert that sells for $2.49, supposedly took its spot, and it's unclear whether churros will make another food court appearance in the future.

Next, the controversial roast beef sandwich also got axed — and plenty of shoppers actually seem to be happy about it. The sandwich retailed for a hefty $9.99, which is significantly more expensive than just buying Costco's hot dog and soda combo meal for only $1.50.
Some who tried the roast beef sandwich complained about its quality as well, calling it bland and dry online. So, this menu item was short-lived.

After being launched in food courts in February 2023, it's nowhere to be found and has been replaced by a turkey and Swiss cheese sandwich. The latest sandwich can be purchased for a more affordable $6.99 and comes with mayo mustard and sun-dried tomato spread on ciabatta bread.

Finally, the third Costco food item you'll no longer be able to find this year may be the most upsetting: Kirkland Signature chocolate chips. The chips previously came in two varieties, including Signature Semi-Sweet Chocolate and Signature Semi-Sweet 51% Chocolate.
According to the store, the rising price cost of cocoa made it unsustainable to offer the chips at a reasonable price. This pushed Costco to begin phasing out its own brand in August 2024 and switch to the Nestlé brand, which also faced price increases, but not to the same extent.

Countless Costco shoppers have been disgruntled by the change, with one user online saying that Kirkland Signature chocolate chips were "the best on the market" — and other users finding ways to petition for them to come back! They're reportedly less sweet than the morsels sold by Nestlé, and plenty of bakers apparently prefer that.
If you can relate, there is some potential good news. Costco suggested that the Kirkland chips might make a return if cocoa prices drop. Nonetheless, the outlook remains uncertain due to ongoing issues like cocoa shortages, climate change, and the financial difficulties cocoa farmers are facing right now.
