Here's How And *What* You Should Buy When Shopping Second-Hand Furniture And Decor

Shopping second-hand is the ultimate win-win. Not only does it always save you money, but it also helps reduce waste. It’s very important to me that I consider my environmental footprint when creating spaces at home, and shopping at thrift stores, Facebook Marketplace, and garage sales keeps quality (and often new) items out of landfills.

That’s not to say that buying new things is wrong or even significantly more expensive than pre-loved options! But knowing what home items are worth splurging on and which are best to thrift is a fine-tuned skill that I’ve mastered after years of practice. (Shoutout to my mom who taught me to rummage through the Goodwill bins in elementary school!)

Twenty years later and my home is filled with vintage favorites, wildly discounted steals, and unique pieces that grab everyone’s attention. My love language is telling anyone and everyone who will listen about how much money I saved by buying secondhand. Today, I’m extending that adoration to you.

An Extensive List Of The Things I'll Never Pay Full Price For Because They're *Always* Available Second-Hand

Image via Tina Witherspoon / Unsplash

Bed Frames & Headboards

Most people don’t ever think to look at thrift stores for things beyond small trinkets or the occasional hidden fashion gem, but I see SO many bed frames and headboards at my local thrift stores.

I’ll admit King-size bed frames and headboards are harder to come by, but not impossible. Our real wood, mid-century-modern-style bed frame is from a lovely couple on Facebook Marketplace who were moving and simply didn’t want to haul such a large piece of furniture across the country. I snagged what is typically $700 for $150, and felt like I was helping someone.

Save your money on the frame and headboard so you can buy your mattress and sheets brand new.

Faux Florals, Wreaths, Planters & Vases

If you are plagued with a notoriously black thumb and kill any plant in sight, opt for faux plants or flowers — which are readily available at thrift stores. So many people buy these seasonally and instead of storing them, they often donate them to their local secondhand store. Now, you'll be there waiting to toss them in your cart and fill your home with greenery and florals alike.

On this same note, seasonal wreaths (especially Christmas wreaths) are surprisingly easy to find. The trick here is to be willing to make a holiday purchase in January, after everyone purged their green and red decor to prep for spring. It really is a great time to stock up on holiday decor, especially wreaths and garlands.

You’ll also find plenty of vases and planters to house these faux finds. My pro tip for shopping secondhand for vessels like this is: keep in mind how simple it is to change the color. Look for shapes and sizes you love and pick up a can of spray paint on your way home to make it your own. All-in-all, you’ll save money and have a custom piece on your hands.

Pillow Inserts

People are admittedly wary of buying used pillows, and I completely understand. That’s why I tend to purchase new pillow covers and buy thrifted pillow inserts. If you’ve never bought down, or down-alternative pillows before, you may have a little sticker shock — at least I did. But secondhand stores are simply overflowing with pillows of all kinds, and with proper cleaning and a brand-new cover to tuck it inside, you’ll be much happier spending $5-$8 on an insert over the typical $30 or more price tag.

Tip for cleaning used pillows:

Before any secondhand pillow comes into my home, I seal it in a trash bag for 48 hours and place it in direct sun to kill off any bugs or germs. Using a disinfectant spray or tossing them in the wash is an extra step you can take to feel more comfortable adding these pre-loved finds to your couch.

Lamp Bases

Lamps are making a major comeback after years of “the big overhead light” being king. Vintage lamps or unique, decorative lighting solutions are always in stock at estate and garage sales, with one caveat: they're often missing lamp shades and bulbs. Lucky for you, the base is usually the most expensive part of a lamp, and investing in a new lampshade and bulbs to dress up your new-to-you lamp will still result in savings.

Like vases, I always look at the shape and the size rather than the color or finish. A can of paint (or even something more creative like a joint-compound finish) can completely transform the look of a vase, but you’re pretty much stuck with the shape and size — choose wisely.

Outdoor Furniture

Between our front porch, back patio, and lawn, we have five different secondhand outdoor furniture finds. I purchased a rattan couch for $20 that needed a fresh coat of paint and new cushions. I found a disassembled picnic table on the side of the road (AKA free) that was easy enough to put back together and paint. I scored a large L-shaped outdoor sectional with waterproof cushions and pillows for $40 on Facebook Marketplace. And I restored a weathered teak patio set (bench, coffee table, and two chairs) after a friend just didn’t have the space for them anymore.

Patio furniture, while designed to live outside, will often present with visible wear and tear that seems like a lot of work. Sellers are quick to pawn it off on someone else, and if you know what you’re doing, you can bring home high-quality pieces that really only need a good scrubbing and a new lease on life.

Image via Julia Zolotova / Unsplash

Pitchers, Dishware, & Mugs

Not a single trip to Goodwill (or insert your thrift store of choice) goes by without a thorough scanning of the dishware section. There are so many not-so-hidden gems on those messy aisles. Basic, solid-color dishes are always available and even organized and taped together in a nice bundle more often than not.

The same is true for glassware, from simple, modern drinking glasses to ornate, colorful drinkware. I’ve also found plenty of one-of-a-kind, funny, outlandish, or quirky mugs to add to my never-ending collection.

For the hosts among us, keep an eye out for large pitcher or beverage containers like carafes, dispensers, or filtered pitchers. These are great for making sangria for your dinner guests, keeping filtered water in your bathroom, or even watering your plants.

Baskets & Storage Bins

This is a sensitive topic with my husband because there was a period of time in which I had a basket-buying problem. One day I woke up and realized how many baskets and bins I saw secondhand and...decided they could be used for everything. I bought baskets to hold our extra toilet paper rolls in in the bathroom, baskets for extra blankets in the living room, even baskets to hang on the walls as rustic decor.

I’m quick to give gifts in decorative woven baskets I’ve accumulated from the thrift store and even have organized our pantry with an assortment of vintage baskets.

A quick TikTok scroll inevitably results in an aesthetic “restock” video of someone filling their fridge, pantry, or toiletries in matching, brand-new bins. As an early adopter of trends, I leaned hard into this trick to make organizing fun (hello, Sunday resets 👋), but found that those storage baskets weren't affordable. So, of course I hit the thrift store, and it never disappoints.

Image via Jonny Caspari / Unsplash

Large Art & Frames

Another high-priced home decor item that simply sent me? Frames and large-scale artwork. Time and time again, I see rooms decorated with family photos in frames much too small for the space simply because larger ones weren’t in the budget. You may have to dig, but thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales are lousy with frames — often large and usually made to add your own photos.

I also see lots of forlorn, under-appreciated artwork, and when styled properly can rival that of an Anthropology display. I’ve found many creative ways to transform artwork if it’s not quite right for your space. Whether that’s painting right over it to utilize the canvas and frame, or adding some decorative touch that enhances the art inside.

So if you’re looking for something specific, NOW is the time. Other things I always see at thrift stores: - pillow inserts - lamps - books - water bottles - mugs - headboards What’s your best thrift find ever? #thriftingislife #secondhandshopping #budgetshopping"

My last tip is one that almost no one want to hear, but as your thrifting big-sis, it’s important for me to tell you: shop a lot. Shopping secondhand is something that gets easier with practice and soon, you’ll be able to spot those find as quickly as if they were curated for you by a big box store. You may not find all these pieces waiting for you at the first store you wander into, but keeping an eye on Facebook Marketplace, spending your weekend pursuing yard sales, and salvage stores will surely yield incredible results. In the meantime, focus on looking for things you love as is or are willing to put in a little elbow grease to bring back to their full potential.

Curating a home on a budget can feel like a daunting task, but shopping pre-loved furniture, decor, and functional items will help you save for those bigger items that you want to buy brand new. May the thrift Gods be even in your favor!

Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper have been pretty private about their relationship, but the two have been out and about more frequently as of late.

The pair has been linked since October 2023, with plenty of dinner dates, city strolls, and weekend getaways under their belts since. They were reportedlyintroduced to each other by Bradley’s ex-girlfriend (and the mother of his daughter), Irina Shayk, who has mutual friends in the acting and modeling industries.

However they met, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper are a couple we’ve come to really love. Read on for a full timeline of their relationship!

Who is Gigi Hadid?

Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images

Gigi Hadid is an American model from Los Angeles, California. She is 28 years old, and has been modeling since she was two. Since then, she’s walked countless runways for designers like Tom Ford, Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Miu Miu, and many more. Gigi has most notably dated Cody Simpson, Joe Jonas, and Zayn Malik. She began dating Zayn in 2015, and the couple were on-again, off-again for quite some time until they announced their pregnancy with daughter Khai in April 2020. They officially split after the relationship between Zayn and Gigi’s mother, Yolanda, turned tense and came to a head. TMZ had claimed Zayn had grown angry with her and things had gotten out of hand. Zayn then entered a no-contest plea to multiple charges of harassment against Yolanda.

Still, Zayn and Gigi are set on co-parenting Khai the best they can.

"Since I've had my daughter and since she was born, the main thing in my mind is trying to be a good example to her in terms of, I can do things and I can achieve things and I can overcome things and you can do this, too," he told People in July 2023.

Gigi has also previously been linked to actor Leonardo DiCaprio, but according to People, things were never serious between the two, and they fizzled out around February 2023.

Who is Bradley Cooper?

Bradley was briefly married to actress Jennifer Esposito in 2006 before they divorced in 2007. He’s most notably dated Renée Zellweger, Zoe Saldaña, and Suki Waterhouse. Bradley also dated Russian model Irina Shayk from 2015 to 2019, and they share a daughter, Lea de Seine (born 2017), together.

Bradley is known to engage in philanthropy (most notably with The One Family Foundation focused on cancer), but has also used his platform to raise awareness around Alzheimer’s disease, climate change, and politics. He is very close with his family and has fully recovered from substance addiction and alcoholism.

Get ready to bend and snap like never before, because not only are we getting a Legally Blonde 3 movie, but a Legally Blonde TV show is also coming to Prime Video! The new TV show will serve as a spinoff of The Morning Show star's franchise from the early 2000s (plus Legally Blondes — IYKYK). Keep reading for all the important info that'll make you want to use legal jargon in everyday life ;).

Is there a Legally Blonde TV show?

Image via Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Yes, a Legally Blonde TV show is coming to Prime Video! The official logline of the show promises it "follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first ‘Legally Blonde’ film."

Deadline sources say Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine will be behind the series based on the beloved film franchise. Nobody knows Legally Blonde as well as Reese, so if she has any kind of creative input, I know it's going to be worth watching!

Will Reese Witherspoon be in the Legally Blonde TV show?

Image via Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios/IMDb

There's no word on the cast yet, but considering the series is a prequel, we probably won't see Reese Witherspoon back as Elle. However, I'd love for her to make a cameo! (This could also be the perfect opportunity for Reese Witherspoon's daughter Ava Phillippe to make her acting debut!) Either way, it looks like Reese will still be involved in the production of the show.

“I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series! Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do. What could be better than that?!” Reese says in a statement to Variety. “Legally Blonde is back!”

Who's working on Reese Witherspoon's Legally Blonde TV show?

Image via Ilya S. Savenok/Getty Images for ReedPOP

The new Legally Blonde TV show will reportedly be written by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who developed and executive produced Gossip Girl. Legally Blonde producer Marc Platt will also work on the series alongside Hello Sunshine's Lauren Neustadter. Creator Laura Kittrell will be showrunner and executive producer.

When can I watch Reese Witherspoon's Legally Blonde TV show?

Image via Metro Goldwyn Mayer

The new Legally Blonde TV show is in the earliest stages of pre-production right now, so it'll be quite a while before we're able to cozy up on the couch to watch (wearing our best pink pajamas, of course). Until then, you can stream Legally Blonde, Legally Blonde 2, and Legally Blondes on Max as many times as you want.

How old was Reese Witherspoon when she shot Legally Blonde?

Image via Vince Bucci/Getty Images

Reese Witherspoon was around 24 or 25 years old when she shot the first Legally Blonde movie. Aside from the fact that Reese embodies Elle Woods better than anyone, her age works perfectly because Elle is a college senior at the beginning of the film, meaning the character is also in her early 20s.

A capsule wardrobe should be super timeless and dependable enough that you won’t dream of ditching the pieces you have in a year or so. This is all about longevity, people!

Since summer’s on its way (and I fear the heat is here to stay for a while), it’s time to start developing a stylish collection of summer clothes that you truly want to wear. Plus, ones that’ll help you survive the painfully warm weather.

My rule of thumb for building a great capsule wardrobe (for summer and any season, really) is starting with the most basic of basics. For instance, I typically lean towards solid pieces (without any patterns) in neutral colors, like black, white, brown, or cream. Another important factor for my personal style is comfort – you want to make sure you enjoy wearing each and every piece you have. Having garments without any extra bells or whistles in your closet means you’re more likely to reach for them, plus they’ll wear quite well with additional basic pieces.

Don’t feel pressured to find all these pieces in a single thrift trip. Oftentimes, it takes multiple thrifting sessions to gather exactly what you’re looking for, especially for a reliable capsule wardrobe. But that’s the fun in thrifting for me – you never know what you’re going to find!

Here are 18 summer capsule wardrobe items to keep an eye out for on your next thrift store visit!

Tops

Photo by Dmitriy Steinke / PEXELS

White Tee

Any white tee is deserving of your summer uniform. They go wonderfully with denim and linen bottoms, and pretty much anything in between. Thrift for your staple white tee in whatever silhouette suits your style. For me, I prefer a cropped baby tee, but you may see yourself wearing a boxier, longer fit based on your preferences.

My best advice here is to avoid see-through white t-shirts at all costs. Since thrift stores typically have older styles and fabrications in stock (they truly don't make things like they used to!), your search shouldn't be too hard. Go for the thicker materials and make sure to try 'em on before sealing the deal.

White Tank Top

For the non-tee days, white tank tops are a godsend. They're the perfect base to layer under light button-ups or cardigans for summertime when needed.

Again, avoid anything that's not giving full coverage. I like my tank tops to be form-fitting (and compatible when I don't feel like wearing a bra), but you may reach for something looser. Either way, make sure you really jive with it!

Photo by Anna Nekrashevich / PEXELS

Black Tee

Because black is just as versatile as white, having a basic black t-shirt on-hand will work wonders for your capsule wardrobe and save you time when you're getting dressed for the day.

Any solid black tee is gonna match with denim bottoms like shorts, skirts, or jeans, as well as summer-ready white pants or shorts.

As always, comfort and coverage is key.

Photo by Leah Newhouse / PEXELS

Black Tank Top

You can also layer black tanks pretty easily. For any tank top you're adding to your capsule wardrobe, I might recommend styles with wider straps rather than spaghetti straps. This way, the garment will fit more comfortably and last longer than any style with flimsy straps.

Colorful Going Out Top

It's hot girl summer after all. You'll want something hot to step out in for happy hours and dinner dates!

Whether it's a halter tank, a top with a tie-front, or a cheeky open back shirt, the most important aspect to consider when adding a going out top to your capsule wardrobe is that you see yourself wearing it again and again – perhaps in different ways from the next!

Buttoned Top

Buttoned tops are good to have as a light layer for when the sun goes down in the summer. For the warmer weather, I recommend searching the thrift racks for cotton or linen fabrications – they are superior for being breezy and breathable, which is what you want in the hot temps.

Basic whites, blacks, or other neutral colors like taupe or sand are an easy addition for building on top of other solid pieces (remember that white tank top?). If you wanna mix things up a bit, look for undistracting patterns like minimal stripes or dots in neutral colorways (so you can still pair it with the rest of your capsule).

Bottoms

Denim Shorts

High waisted denim shorts are just as popular as longer bermuda jorts right now, so the particular style you thrift for is really up to you. No matter what, you want to prioritize comfort and quality, along with your personal preferences. Try to put micro-trends aside!

For thrifting denim, I like looking for brands like Lee or Levi's. I typically like to feel the material in my hands, making sure it's thick and has zero holes, thinning, or rips.

Boxer Shorts

Boxer shorts are hugeee for this summer, but they have longevity for outfits in and out of the house – beyond summer, too. These flowy shorts are super light and airy, and you can literally can hop out of bed and look chic when you pair 'em with a basic tank, light cardi or button up, and ballet flats.

It sounds icky, but you're most likely to find the boxer shorts you're looking for in the men's section of the thrift store. I'd look out for fun patterns like plaids or stripes, but also basic solid colors like light blues or grays. From there, you wanna wash everything you thrift before wearing (you may already know the drill, but it's worth the reminder)!

Track Shorts

Track shorts are also popping off right now, but they can live in your wardrobe forever. With some cute sneaks and a basic tee, your next casual outfit is set. Track shorts can be dressed up or down with ease, depending on how you style them, and they're great for working out too . Hot girl walks, here you come!

Linen Pants

Any sort of linen garment is gonna do you extremely good this summer.

Linen pants are a great option to have in your capsule wardrobe for the summer nights you might have to dress up a bit more than usual, – office lunches, cocktails with the girls, etc. They are so easy to wear with a tank and chic flip flops for a beachy look, or layer with a light cardi and ballet flats for a sophisticated ensemble.

White or cream colors are super cute for linen pants, but you should be able to track some down in essentially any color you wish!

Dresses + Skirts

Black Mini Skirt

It might just be me, but I think you're gonna want something short for a hot, hot summer. Mini skirts are here to save the day, and you can track them down at the thrift store pretty easily!

Black is an instant match with just about anything, and I've found myself reaching for my thrifted black mini skirt more than usual as things start to heat up.

Even better than a skirt? A skort. With skorts, you have more comfort and security. To scour the racks for skorts, I typically look around the athletic wear section.

Denim Mini Skirt

Again, the mini length is so helpful for tackling summer heat. Denim is timeless as can be, and a denim skirt can be worn in countless ways! Go for the cowgirl chic look with some cowgirl boots and a pointelle tank, or go cute-girl with some slingbacks and a going out top!

The denim mini skirt you land on all depends on your personal style and preferences for fit. I personally have an affection for medium-wash denim, but you might prefer darker colors. The denim skirt I always reach for is easy to put on with a simple zipper and button closure, but you might be able to find a piece that slides right on and stretches.

Casual Little Black Dress

It's worth repeating: black goes with everything! Whether it's a-line, a swing dress, or a babydoll look, a casual LBD is perfect for summertime. It's easy to wear with tall boots, sandals, flats, etc., plus you can dress it up or down based on what you're up to!

Remember, comfort is key.

White Maxi Skirt

A white maxi skirt delivers such whimsical vibes! It's my go-to summer farmer's market get-up since I don't have to deal with pants at all. But the white maxi skirt works for a variety of situations like brunch or park walks, too!

It's a great match with a black tank top or breezy bandeau, if the temps are really scorching.

Shoes

Ballet Flats

Ballet flats (or even Mary Janes) are a reliable cozy shoe for wearing this summer and beyond! Unlike sneakers or clogs, they won't leave your feet super sweaty – which is something I try to avoid at all costs.

They're perfectly femme, so cute, and go with everything from pants to dress.

Photo by Roman Odintsov / PEXELS

Comfy Sandals

If ballet flats aren't your vibe (for style or comfort reasons), sandals are another breezy choice you can track down at the thrift store. It's best to opt for ones with a substantial sole, so you can be sure your feet are getting as much support as possible.

Looking for lightly-used shoes are best when thrifting.

Accessories

Photo by Addy Bronzzz / PEXELS

Basic Shoulder Bag

You gotta take stuff with ya wherever you go this summer! A small shoulder bag is perfect for toting things around, from the cafes to the bars. I adore my small black shoulder bag since it goes with everything, and looks even better when I'm wearing black shoes.

If a small shoulder bag isn't roomy enough for your lifestyle, a canvas tote is great, too.

Black Sunnies

TheDunkin' summer menujust hit stores on May 1, and I was so excited to get my hands on the new lineup! In addition to an all-new Refresher flavor, Dunkin’ launched two unique coffee-based drinks and three fun food items (both sweet and savory) to coordinate with the summer season. Of course, I had to see what all the hype was about via a bonafide taste test.

Here are my honest thoughts about the new items on the Dunkin’ summer menu, so you know what’s worth trying! Let's get into it!

Watch Me Review The New Drinks

Watch Me Review The New Food Items

Iced Vanilla Frosted Donut Signature Latte

First up, the Vanilla Frosted Donut Signature Latte. This one is so sweet. But so addicting! It may not be the prime choice for those who don’t like sweet drinks, though. I *do* like my coffees fairly sweet, so I didn’t think it was overwhelming when I tried it.

More than anything, this latte simply delivered joy once I got it in my hands. It’s topped with a good amount of whipped cream and a healthy dose of rainbow sprinkles, which fix just about any bad day as far as I’m concerned.

Blueberry Donut Coffee

I go wild for blueberry cake donuts, and I expected the new Blueberry Donut Coffee to taste just like one. I was a bit disappointed when it didn't! I got more of a donut flavor rather than a blueberry one when I sipped down the iced version of this bev.

All things considered, I still loved my first impression of the new Blueberry Donut Coffee. I got it iced (duh), and with cream, it came out to the perfect, most beautiful coffee color. It had maybe 75% of the Vanilla Frosted Donut Signature Latte’s sweetness, which meant it was still sweet enough for my liking.

This could be a great go-to order when you don’t quite want espresso, but are still looking for a nice caffeinated sipper.

Kiwi Watermelon Refresher

The first thing I wrote down in my tasting notes about the brand-new Kiwi Watermelon Refresher was: “MMMMMM SO GOOD.” And I stand by that!

Upon first sip, I got a refreshing (ha, get it?) swig of kiwi flavor and watermelon flavor, which was very nice and evenly balanced. I could see myself gulping this one down at the park or on a road trip this summer! It honestly tasted like candy, which I am not mad about a single bit.

That being said, most of the Dunkin’ Refreshers are really sweet, so if you like milder drinks, you may not fully like this newcomer.

I also got to try the Kiwi Watermelon Refresher with lemonade – a new thing for Dunkin’. I really loved it! With the lemonade, I still got the full effect from the kiwi and watermelon. It was never overpowered, unlike other fruity lemonade beverages from similar coffee chains.

Watermelon Burst Donut

I was really hesitant to try this new menu item because I normally don’t associate watermelon with donuts. One thing about the new Watermelon Burst Donut is that she’s messy… This sweet treat is coated in tons of pink, watermelon-flavored sprinkles and filled to the brim with watermelon jelly.

The first bite I took was just of the donut dough itself – and it wasn’t half bad! My only complaint at that point was the fact that the pink sprinkles got all over the place. They made my lips and mouth messy, and fell off into my lap and around my car. Yikes!

The second bite, of course, included some of the watermelon jelly. This is when I decided that the Watermelon Burst Donut just isn't for me. The bready part was good, but the jelly was super sour – just not what I'd prefer from a donut as a chocolate girlie. I wouldn’t order it on my own accord.

Chocolate Chunk Cookie

Chocolate chunk cookies are classic – you can’t deny that! You also can’t mess it up, IMO. Dunkin’ hit the nail right on the head with this new packaged snack. First of all, I adore the size of the Chocolate Chunk Cookie. It’s huge and packed with big chocolate chunks – as it should be!

There’s a nice variety with texture in this cookie, too. I found that the chocolate chunks were creamy and sweet, while the rest of the cookie was crunchy and downright cookie-like. It made eating it fun!

The pre-packaged-ness of it all is also super nice for snacking on-the-go, or even saving for later (midnight snack, anyone?).

Green Goddess Wrap

Seemingly a direct competitor for Starbucks’ popular Spinach Feta Wrap, the new Green Goddess Wrap from Dunkin’ thoroughly impressed me. Unlike its counterpart, the Green Goddess Wrap is delivered with a very nice texture. I find that other options typically get soggy (after being warmed and put in a bag) and fall apart, but this one didn’t get that way at all.

I loved that the outside of the wrap got a little bit crispy, while the inside stayed gooey and warm. While the texture is quite enjoyable, I was left wishing for more flavor from the wrap’s contents.

Even if it was lacking a bit in flavor, you could easily doctor it up with spices, salt, or hot sauce. More than anything, I appreciate that the Green Goddess Wrap provides a substantial option for breakfast, brunch, or lunch via drive-thru.

Thanks to Sean Kaufman and Rain Spencer (as well as all the pros behind the camera), the best TV scene of 2023 came out this summer when The Summer I Turned Prettygave us Steven and Taylor (played by Sean and Rain, respectively) dancing to Frank Ocean's cover of "Moon River." I absolutely lost my mind! This series is one of the best teen dramas around, and good news for fans of all things Cousins Beach: we're getting The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3! Here's everything we know about the new TV show— including a look at our convo with lead actress Lola Tung!

When will The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 come out?

Jackie Chung (Laurel) and Sean Kaufman (Steven)

We were hoping to see The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 return in 2024, but thanks to a new post from the official TSITP account, we know the show will drop summer 2025. Okay, TBH that's a total bummer (just because we can't wait to watch!!), but, as the books say, It's Not Summer Without You (er, Belly and her friends).

Lola Tung starred as Euridyce in Hadestown on Broadway until March 17, 2024. During the official press day — which you can watch on TikTok — she told me that while she doesn't know too much about Belly's arc this season, she's just as excited to return to Cousins Beach as we are! "I'm just very excited to be back with everyone and to be able to step back into Belly's shoes, I'm super excited," she says.

Who's going to be in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 cast?

Gavin Casalegno (Jeremiah), Lola Tung (Belly), Christopher Briney (Conrad), Sean Kaufman (Steven) in The Summer I Turned Pretty

Considering the third book, We'll Always Have Summer, revolves around Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah, we're expecting The Summer I Turned Pretty cast to include Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno. We're also hoping to see Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, Jackie Chung, and Rachel Blanchard again!

After a variety of cast members were spotted around Wilmington, North Carolina, fans were hoping to see Christopher Briney — and it looks like he has finally arrived! "CONRAD FISHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR IS HOMEEEEEEEEEEE," one X user says along with an image of Christopher Briney.

Who does Conrad end up with in The Summer I Turned Pretty series?

Image via Prime Video

While we don't know who Conrad will end up with in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, there is one theory that suggests his reunion with Belly will be better than ever. Lola Tung, Rain Spencer, Gavin Casalegno, and other cast members have been spotted around Wilmington — all except Chris Briney.@julevere wonders if they're filming in chronological order for one specific reason.

"You don't see Conrad for ages in book 3," she says. "What if Jenny [Han] is doing that on purpose so the actual moment in the show where Conrad and Belly see each other for the first time, [in a way] that's going to be the first legitimate time those two actors as...Belly and Conrad will see each other."

Waiting as long as possible for Lola Tung and Chris Briney to see each other means that Belly and Conrad's reunion will be more intense, and bring up all the old emotions (and infinity necklaces) that came up during season 2. If there's one thing this show has taught me, it's that you can only run from your feelings for so long and as a member of #TeamConrad, I'm hoping any reunion between the two brings them together for potential future seasons.

How old are the characters?

Lola Tung (Belly) and Christopher Briney (Conrad)

In season one, Conrad is going to be a freshman in college, while the rest of the characters are still in high school. And at the beginning of season 2, Steven graduates from high school!

How many episodes are in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3?

Lola Tung (Belly), Christopher Briney (Conrad), and Rain Spencer (Taylor)

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 will have 10 episodes instead of eight like the previous two seasons!

Where is The Summer I Turned Pretty filmed?

Image via Amazon Studios/Prime Video

Even though The Summer I Turned Pretty is set on the coast of Massachusetts, the show is filming in Wilmington, North Carolina. This city is actually pretty well known in Hollywood — projects like Iron Man 3,One Tree Hill, and Outer Banks have filmed there! As someone who grew up going to Wilmington every single summer, I can promise you it's just as pretty as it looks (and the fair from season 2 is just as fun!!)

Is there a 4th Summer I Turned Pretty?

Christopher Briney (Conrad), Lola Tung (Belly)

There is not a fourth The Summer I Turned Pretty book, but that doesn't mean the show has to end with season 3. They've already changed a few details from the books — namely, adding the Stephen/Taylor relationship reminds me of how Gossip Girl gave us Chuck and Blair, a fan-favorite ship that wasn't in those books either! I'm excited to see how the story (and the characters) continue to grow and evolve!

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Announcement

Lola Tung (Belly), Rain Spencer (Taylor)

Prime Video announced the renewal on August 3, right before episode five of the second season hit the streaming service. Just like the season two trailer, Taylor Swift's "august" plays in the background and I'm in tears.

“We’ve been delighted to see the passion with which fans have embraced The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Amazon and MGM Studios' head of television Vernon Sanders says in a press release. “Jenny Han is a gifted storyteller, whose fans have been clamoring for the third chapter of this story. We’re excited today to share the news that they have a lot more Summer to look forward to."
