Our Favorite Products For 2023

Versed Sweet Relief Balm

B+C Creative Assistant, Meredith, loves this super moisturizing formula for her dry winter skin. This product keeps things simple with no fragrances, just a thick, creamy balm that’s also bomb for pulling off the skin slugging trend.

Odele Volumizing Shampoo + Conditioner

Meredith spent a lot of showers with this shampoo and conditioner combo this year. The Odele brand is nice for her, because it feels like a luxury product at an affordable price – the bottles are available at Target!

Boy Smells Banana Pudding Candle

This candle was gone in an instant inside Meredith’s apartment. “It literally smells like how it's marketed,” she says. “I love the unique scent, it’s sort of gourmand, savory, and smoky all at once.”

Khus + Khus KAMA Balm

“I’ve never tried a body balm like this one before,” Meredith says. “It melts in your hands like coconut oil and smells heavenly.” This balm leaves skin with an appropriately glowy sheen which is good for going out or staying in for a self-care night.

Flamingo Razor Head + Blades

This razor suite gave Meredith the easiest, smoothest shave she’s ever had from a disposable razor blade. Like the Odele products, this razor feels luxurious, but for an approachable price.

Saucony Triumph 21

Meredith has only had these shoes for a month or so, but she can’t shut up about them. In her words, they “feel like walking on literal clouds.” She loves how snug the shoe fits with the laces being intrusive or restricting. The light yellow color is unique and fun, too.

Glossier You Perfume

Glossier You is the most unique body scent Meredith has tried, and because of that, she wears it every single day. The packaging is elegant and playful, plus the payoff you get from one application is impressive.

Hydro Flask 40oz Bottle

Meredith has had her same Hydro Flask bottle since her freshman year of college (2018), and it's never broken once. She loves it because it keeps cold water super cold all day long, making the perfect companion for workdays and workouts alike.

Kirkland Signature Women's Stretch Moisture Wicking Brushed Legging with Pockets

These leggings fit Meredith perfectly – the snug high waist stays put during everything from workouts, to climbing and hiking. They have a convenient pocket for your phone, too.

Dreo Tower Fan

This standing fan literally saved Mer's air conditioner-less apartment this past summer. “It operates really quietly, and the remote control feature is so helpful for when I’m feeling lazy,” she says.

Moon Juice Acid Potion

This beauty pick was a good intro to liquid exfoliating for Meredith this year. It’s easy to apply with your hands, provides a fun tingling sensation so you can really feel it working, plus there’s lots of product inside the glass bottle that will last for ages.

TheraFace Pro

B+C Content Editor, Haley, says “this is the best at-home skincare device I've tried! I saw pretty good results after a month of steady use.” She likes that it has multiple heads, making it versatile for day-to-day skincare needs.

Blundstone #2365 Boots

Haley has been loving these boots from Blundstone this year. “They fit like a dream, they can be dressed up or down, and I don't recall feeling like I had to break them in at all!”

Outdoor Voices SuperForm™ Rib Flare Pant

Haley is obsessed with her Outdoor Voices flared leggings right now. “They're so flattering, comfy, and cute,” she says. “Feels like a massive upgrade from black leggings, without having to try too hard.”

Caudalíe Vinoperfect Dark Circle Brightening Eye Cream

Haley also raved about this eye cream from Caudalíe this year, praising it for being the first product to ever be truly effective for her dark circles.

“Though this skincare combo is more expensive than I'd like, I plan on sticking with it for the long haul,” she says. “This serum and cream honestly feel like a miracle mix for me, and I'm so excited to see how well this works over time!”

Gap High Rise Stride Wide-Leg Jeans

Haley has literally never gotten more compliments on her outfits than when she’s wearing these jeans. They're versatile, flattering, and comfy! “A miracle, to be honest,” she says.

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream with Squalane + Ultra Pure High-Potency 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum

B+C Head of Content, Ali, has had a ton of Kiehl's empties from this year, and she loves this duo in particular because they’re very hydrating.

“These two nourishing products keep my skin reasonably moisturized in Los Angeles’s desert climate,” she says.

Gap Relaxed Straight Pull-On Pants

“These soft, tailored pants are so good, I had to buy them in black and gray,” Ali says. “I'm in my elastic waistband era (AKA comfy pants only), but these look far more elevated than casual slacks.”

Allbirds Tree Runners

Ali is on her third pair of Allbirds Tree Runners – for good reason! “This white pair goes with everything, is the comfiest sneaker I've ever worn, and is machine washable,” she says. “I walk upwards of 5 miles a day in these (usually with my dog), and wear 'em to the ground. I've gotten pairs for my mom and husband, too, who love them!”

Roen 29 Palms Candle

Ali says Roen candles have a strong scent (even when unlit) and make her home smell amazing. “This is probably one of my most-complimented products I own,” she says.

Apple Airpods

“This was a birthday gift that has taken my audiobook habit to the next level,” Ali says. “No more tangled wires!”

Our Place Always Pan 2.0

This pan was a major step-up for Meredith from her previously worn-down one. The nonstick coating is *actually* nonstick (unlike other brand's promises), but the only thing she doesn't like is she can't put it in the dishwasher.

Kate Spade New York Tea Kettle

This tea kettle brightens up Ali’s kitchen in the cutest way! Everyone needs a little dose of color every now and then.

NETANY Drinking Glass Set with Glass Straws

These are Ali’s absolute fave drinking glasses. The glass straws are the most elegant feature!

Jacquotha Hand Towels

These cute checkered hand towels let Ali try out a fleeting trend in a small, noncommittal way. The range of colors is too cute!

IKEA FADO Table Lamp

Ali recently added this IKEA lamp to her desk setup which has been major for supplying cozy light during the more recent, shorter winter days.

Connor Liljestrom Art Print

"I bought this art print for my bedroom and she's everything to me,” Ali says. We love a statement piece!

Smartwool Hike Classic Edition Extra Cushion Crew Socks

Smartwool socks are the standard for hiking (in Meredith’s experience), and she will always rave about them. “The extra compression and cushion makes a huge difference as opposed to regular socks,” she says.

Bose 700 Noise Cancelling Headphones

Meredith loves these headphones because they are excellent at noise cancellation. They are extremely helpful for focusing at work and drowning out crying kids on the airplane, too.

fresh Sugar Lip Balm Hydrating Treatment Bloom

For Ali, this silky-smooth lip treatment is her go-to when her Burt’s Bees is out of reach.

2PCS Silky Satin Hair Bows

Hair bows were so in this year, and Ali couldn’t get enough of these satin ones!

Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Body Lotion for Dry Skin

For Meredith, this is “literally the best lotion I've tried for my dry skin since I moved to Colorado,” and boy, does it get dry there! “I’m in love with how thick and creamy it is, and I can actually feel the hydration last past a few hours.”

We are head over heels in love with all things Bridgerton. The relationships, the characters, the Gossip Girl-meets-Jane Austen storylines. After waiting far too long for a sneak peek of season 3, Netflix *finally* released exclusive images that continue to have us shipping Polin (Penelope and Colin, of course.). Not only that, a first look at Penolope and Eloise's overdue conversation has been released! Here's the latest season 3 Bridgerton news, as well as some fan theories that might just carry us into season 4.

Will Penelope and Eloise happily reunite in season 3 of "Bridgerton?"

Image via Liam Daniel/Netflix

In an exclusive image obtained by Entertainment Weekly, it seems like former best friends Penelope and Eloise are having a conversation. Judging from the expression on Penelope's face and Eloise's folded arms, it appears that things are still tense between them. Jess Brownwell, Bridgerton's show runner told the outlet, "I'm rooting for them," while admitting their friendship breakup is, "...a chance for the two of them to grow and learn about themselves..."

It's interesting to see if Eloise will remain icy towards Penelope after the abrupt end of their friendship in Season 2.

When is Bridgerton season 3 is coming out?

Image via Liam Daniel/Netflix

Netflix announced on December 12 that season 3 of Bridgerton will release in two parts in 2024: Part I on May 16 and Part II on June 13th. Until then, catch up on the first two seasons, as well as the prequel series Queen Charlotte, on Netflix!

What is the new season of Bridgerton about?

Image via Liam Daniel/Netflix

After giving up on whether Colin could ever return her feelings, Penelope decides to find a husband who will give her the independence she needs as Lady Whistledown. But when Colin offers to help her along the way, and his help begins to pay off, he realizes that his feelings for her might be more than platonic.

Why is Penelope wearing more blues and greens than her staple yellows?

Image via Liam Daniel/Netflix

It's clear throughout the first season that each family has their own color representing the journey ahead of them — the beloved Bridgertons wear sophisticated blues and lavenders while the Featheringtons wear loud yellows as they try to climb the social ladder.

This is very intentional, and throughout season 3 we'll see Penelope transition from her staple yellow dresses into more greens and blues, a symbol of her union with Colin Bridgerton. Costume designer Sophie Canale confirmed this color theory to People, sharing that the green dress Penelope wears in episode four was a nod to her future relationship with Colin. After all, green *is* a mix of yellow and blue.

In the beginning of the season, Penelope and her mother are both wearing green instead of their usual lemon yellow. But instead of a pastel green like her previous dress, this one is very vibrant and tinged with a lot of warm tones. Even if Penelope is growing, the ties to her family are still strong.

Considering season two ended with Penelope getting into a fight with Eloise — and overhearing Colin say he would never court her — it makes sense that Penelope would turn more into her family than ever before. However, in an on-set interview with This Morning, Coughlan wore a dress that appears to be a muted seafoam, meaning it features more blue than yellow.

If Penelope wears lime at the beginning of the season and seafoam at the end, it's a perfect representation of her emotional arc. She moves from feeling overshadowed by her family to being embraced by Colin (hopefully sooner rather than later!!), and it creates a whole new color just for her.

Penelope is, and always will be, a mix of both Featherington and her love for Colin. Good thing for us, Canale takes us on that journey with her.

Will Benedict still play a role in season 3 of Bridgerton?

Image via Liam Daniel/Netflix

The third book in the Bridgerton series, An Offer From A Gentleman, focuses on Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Beckett. Even though the third season of the show will revolve around Colin and Penelope, fans are anticipating an important plot point could still happen this year.

"I'm reading Benedict's book, and between the ball the Bridgertons threw where he met Sophie and when they meet again there's a gap of two years, enough for the unfolding of Penelope and Colin's [arc]," lovin_da_dix says on Reddit. "My theory is that the Bridgertons will throw the ball this season, we would briefly see Sophie and the writers would carry the storyline through season 4."

Not only would a ball give us an excuse to see Colin and Penelope dance again, but it would also set up the next season of the show! That is some serious script planning. But considering the characters in Bridgerton love throwing a party, and a ball would fit right in with the book's timeline, this is one theory we could totally see coming true.

Does Daphne appear in season 3 of Bridgerton?

Image via Liam Daniel/Netflix

No, Daphne will not be in season 3 of Bridgerton. Actress Phoebe Dynevor revealed she wouldn't return to the series at the Sundance Film Festival inJanuary of 2023.

Which couple will season 3 of Bridgerton be about?

Image via Liam Daniel/Netflix

Bridgerton season 3 will focus on Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. This is the first time fans will get to see a couple they've been rooting for since the beginning, and I can't wait!

Here's Your First Look At Season 3 Of Bridgerton

Image via Liam Daniel/Netflix

Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) — who moonlights as town gossip Lady Whistledown — touted pale blue dresses that complemented her red hair, styled in soft waves.

"Do contain your excitement," the show tweeted, adding on Instagram, "The author is about to become the main character."

And according to Nicola, fans are in for a wild ride. The actress described her season as "magical," "romantic" and "quite scandalous" while speaking at Tudum's Brazil event, per Shondaland.

Colin doesn't look too shabby either.

(Hopefully) a happy couple in the works!

...Or not as happy as we thought.

Keep up to date with our Bridgerton news and let us know in the comments what you're looking forward to seeing in the new season!

We'll say it now: 2023 will go down in history as one of the best years of television. From gripping thrillers to hilarious comedies and old school teen dramas, there was something for every single kind of TV lover and we absolutely could not get enough. While you catch up on all the best fall movies (and, who are we kidding, Christmas movies too!), here are the best TV shows of 2023 that you *have* to watch if you haven't seen them yet.

The Last Of Us: Season 1

Image via Liane Hentscher/HBO

Forget 2023, The Last of Us is one of the best TV shows we've seen...ever. Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann started off the development process with the words "This is a love story, and that's not good." This show (which is being considered the best video game adaptation of all time) follows smuggler Joel and teenager Ellie as they make their way across a post-apocalyptic American, and focuses mainly on love — and what you'll do for the people you love.

"This is one of the best shows I've ever watched," says Assistant Editor Chloe Williams. "I don't know if I've genuinely sat down every single week like that, and I know I haven't been that invested in characters in a very long time. It was such a good bonding experience with my roommates."

Sullivan's Crossing: Season 1

We know y'all love Gilmore Girls, and this is the *perfect* show to watch after you finish your annual, and er, virtual, Stars Hollow visit. Sullivan's Crossing's Maggie has to return to the titular hometown after her Boston medical career implodes, and it's got everything we love about a comfort show: a small town, deep relationships, and fun traditions.

The Crown: Season 6

Image via Justin Downing/Netflix

The Crown season 6 knocked it out of the park again when casting its new generation of Royals, which is exactly why it went viral...the first time. The final season of the hit series has since made headlines numerous times — for it's approach to Princess Diana's final days, Prince Harry's antics, and even how they approached the final scene after Queen Elizabeth II passed away last year. All in all, this is one TV show our team loves.

Queen Charlotte

Lead image via Liam Daniel/Netflix

We didn't technically get a new season ofBridgerton this year, but we did get this prequel series that follows Queen Charlotte as she joins the royal family. The show ended up being one of Netflix most-viewed series, and it's one of our team's favorites.

"It's a super interesting and semi-accurate historical deep dive into the real-life monarch, and the origin story/rise of the show's best (fictional) character," says Social Lead Mallory Levy. "I also appreciated the thoughtful and open-minded re-imagining of racial relations and equality, which we rarely get right in other shows and movies — let alone in real life hundreds of years later."

The Bear: Season 2

Image via FX

The Bear Season 2 doesn't just maintain the viewers' connection to the first season — it strengthens it. Watching Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and the rest of the chefs prep opening their new restaurant comes with its fair share of challenges, but it's actually very rewarding to see the way they stick together through everything (even if they argue along the way). "The cameos, the performances, the continued heart of it all — stunning," says Editor Haley Sprankle.

Platonic

Image via Apple TV+

In Platonic, former BFF's Seth Rogen's Will and Rose Byrne's Sylvia haven't spoken in a long time. But after they reconnect, their friendship becomes even better — and more consuming — than it was before. If this one flew under your radar, you need to add it to your watchlist ASAP. "Super funny [and a] super fun take on men and women being friends," Editor Haley Sprankle says.

Vanderpump Rules: Season 10

Image via Nicole Weingart/Bravo

Reality TV and Ariana Madix fans got quite the chaotic treat with Vanderpump Rules Season 10 (and its reunion). Scheana Shay and Brock Davies got married, Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney got divorced, and Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss ended their relationship. We're definitely going to need a refresher before Season 11 premieres.

Outer Banks: Season 3

Image via Jackson Lee Davis/Netflix

This season of Outer Banks was more intense than ever, and in addition to some truly insane plot lines (like taking the OBX treasure hunt to El Durado??), JJ and Kiara fans *finally* got to see their favorite couple act on their feelings for each other. Assistant Editor Chloe Williams will never stop watching the show, especially since she's from the Outer Banks! Check out our interview with costume designer Emmie Holmes before Season 4 drops!

The Righteous Gemstones: Season 3

Image via Jake Giles Netter/HBO

This family comedy is the perfect balance of social commentary and humor, and this season, the world-famous Gemstone family is arguing over the direction they want their church to go. Eli's scaling back his involvement, while Judy returns from tour with a secret. "So funny," says Editor Haley Sprankle. "So good at satire without mean-spirited mimicry."

The Golden Bachelor: Season 1

Image via Brian Bowen Smith/ABC

The Golden Bachelor — which set out to “showcase a whole new kind of love story" — might be our favorite show in the Bachelor universe. It allows women with a whole different set of life experiences the chance to find love, and there are so many heartwarming, honest conversations that our team cries every time we watch it.

The Summer I Turned Pretty: Season 2

Image via Prime Video

We didn't think this teen drama could get any better, and then Season 2 dropped. After Susannah's cancer diagnosis, the stakes are higher than ever, and the way that Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah, Steven, and Taylor deal with the beauty, stress, and drama of being a teenager is too good to pass up. Plus playing "Invisible String" and "Snow On The Beach" by Taylor Swift in contrasting scenes? We lost our minds. Check out our guide to the IRL Cousins Beach, Wilmington, North Carolina, as well as everything you missed in the finale, before The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3premieres!

The Diplomat: Season 1

Image via Alex Bailey/Netflix

Head of Content Alison Ives loved The Diplomat, which follows US ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) on her new high-profile job to the United Kingdom. Since it deals so much with politics, it's perfect for viewers who love both workplace rom-coms and thrillers

"[Wyler is] calling all the shots, navigating international crises, and guiding intense negotiations with war-hungry global leaders (read: men) to de-escalate global conflict," Alison says. "Wyler is the definition of bad*ss and I love seeing women centered in power in an authentic and empowering way. Plus, there’s some fun relationship drama thrown in the mix with her rocky marriage to Hal Wyler, played by actor Rufus Sewell. It’s a must-watch."

Succession: Season 4

Image via Claudette Barius/HBO

The final season of Successiondoes what it does best: bringing the Roy kids to their absolute limits. They're all toeing the line between harmony and losing control as their aging father has to decide what direction to take the business, and the stakes have never been higher. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you might also yell at your TV.

The Morning Show: Season 3

Image via Apple TV+

There's a lot going on in the newest season of Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston's The Morning Show. A tech titan is beginning to show interest in UBA (yikes!), and it forces new alliances to form — while testing old loyalties at the same time. "They do a great job of making relevant, news-related plot lines without pushing," Editor Haley Sprankle says.

Daisy Jones & The Six

Image via Lacey Terrell/Prime Video/Amazon Studios

This documentary-style show is based on Taylor Jenkins Reid's hit novel of the same name, and stars Riley Keough as the titular character. If you're a fan of romance, drama, and 1970s Rock 'n' Roll (plus 1970s styles like crochet), then there's a *very* good chance you'll want to watch this series in one sitting!

Dancing With The Stars: Season 32

Image via ABC

Dancing with the Stars has its most exciting cast in years, and we're loving all of the competition. Every dance has so much heart to it, and with talented celebs, incredible costumes, and jaw-dropping eliminations, it continues to have all the ingredients needed for a captivating show.

Never Have I Ever: Season 4

Image via Netflix

The final season of Never Have I Ever was incredible, to say the least. Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan)pulls at all of our heartstrings, and from her crush ignoring her to the chaos of senior year, all the issues she deals with in every episode really hit home. It's got both humor and depth, which we'll always say yes to in a TV show!

"There are few things I love more than a teen dramedy, and this is one that hit all the right marks and stayed strong throughout its full run," Social Lead Mallory Levy says. In addition to everything Devi overcomes, the characters also experience some serious growth. "Plus, the representation on this show is some of the best I've ever seen, without being heavy-handed!"

The Real Housewives of New York City: Season 14

Image via Sean Zanni/Bravo

It’s out with the old and in with the new in the Big Apple in TheReal Housewives of New York City Season 14, and it features all our favorite reality TV staples: stunning homes, fabulous women, and sparkling outfits. This also marks a new start for the RHONY as it welcomes a whole new — and fabulous — cast.

Love In Fairhope

Image via Dan Anderson/Hulu

This is reality TV like you've never seen it. Hello Sunshine's Love in Fairhope marries fantasy with reality, which creates both a unique experience for the cast and for us as viewers. It features five women from four different generations as they navigate new beginnings, second chances, breakups, revelations. Yes, please!

Lessons In Chemistry

Image via Apple TV+

The Marvelsstar Brie Larson stuns as Elizabeth Zott, a scientist confined to the restrictions of the 1950s. From working in a lab to using science to perfect her lasagna, Elizabeth applies data, intention, and heart to everything she does. Beyond the story itself, the production (like the color palette and framing) are absolutely gorgeous.

Matzo Ball Soup is filled with tradition, warmth, and delight, and it's a lot easier to make than you'd think. Meggan from Culinary Hill has crafted the ultimate Matzo Ball Soup recipe, and we're here to share the magic. The savory classic, often dubbed the Jewish penicillin, offers pure comfort in each slurp. Matzo balls float about like clouds in a rich, golden soup broth, locking in some truly unforgettable flavors.

This Matzo Ball Soup recipe isn't one to miss this winter. When you're craving something hearty and heartwarming, whip up a batch. Here's how!

Ingredients For Matzo Ball Soup

To make the matzo balls:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or chicken fat
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup matzo meal
To make the rest of the soup:
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 large carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 4 ribs celery, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless, chicken breasts or thighs
  • 4 to 6 parsley stems
  • 1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh dill, for garnish

Directions For Matzo Ball Soup

To make the matzo balls:

  1. !n a small bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil and eggs. Add matzo meal and stir to combine. Refrigerate the matzo at least 15 minutes or overnight. With wet hands, shape the matzo into 1-inch balls.
  2. In a large pot over medium-high heat, bring 10 to 12 cups of water to a boil. Add matzo balls and reduce to a simmer. Cover well and simmer until fully cooked, 20 minutes.
To make the soup:
  1. Meanwhile, in a large pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add onion, carrots, celery, and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the broth.
  2. Place the parsley stems, peppercorns, and bay leaves in the center of the square of cheesecloth. Gather the corners together to make a small pouch, tying it tightly with twine. Keep one length of the twine long enough to tie to one of the pot handles, for easy removal. Add to pot.
  3. Add the chicken to the pot and continue to cook until vegetables are tender and the chicken registers 165 degrees when pierced at the thickest part, about 20 minutes, depending on the thickness of the chicken.
  4. Remove to a cutting board and cool slightly. Slice, chop, or shred as desired (I prefer shredded). Return chicken to pot. Remove sachet and discard. Season soup to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  5. Remove matzo balls from simmering water using a slotted spoon. Divide matzo balls between 4 bowls. Ladle soup over matzo and garnish with dill.
