Jennifer Lawrence Said She'd Love To Rejoin The "Hunger Games" Universe

jennifer lawrence hunger games katniss everdeen

The Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence in the films) taught me a lot about myself in grade school. And, even though she was a teenager herself, she made me want to be a better woman. Beyond our shared focus on archery, Katniss was fiery and independent, and she inspired me to both be a better sister and to take a stronger stand for what I believe in. All in all, The Hunger Games inspired an entire generation of young girls because Katniss was more than a one-dimensional fictional character.

This November, we'll see Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird in The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, but there's also a chance we'll see Lawrence in Panem again.

NO HARD FEELINGS – Official Red Band Trailer (HD)

In an interview with Variety, Jennifer is asked if she'd ever want to revisit the character. "Totally," she says. "If Katniss ever could come back in my life, 100%."

We're looking forward to A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, but we wouldn't say no to seeing Katniss again either!

After taking a hiatus from acting, Jennifer is currently promoting her new film No Hard Feelings. CinemaCon got a first look at the movie back in April (with a very positive response). The film centers around her character Maddie, who's an Uber driver in serious need of some cash after her car is towed. In order to get some quick money, Maddie accepts a Craigslist ad from a couple looking for someone to date their awkward 19-year-old, Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman).

While the plot might be one of the craziest things I've ever heard, Jennifer and director Gene Supnitsky told Entertainment Weekly that it was inspired by a real Craigslist ad!

"Gene read the Craigslist ad to me, and I died laughing," Jennifer says in the interview. "I thought it was hilarious...and then a couple years later, he handed me the funniest script I've ever read in my life."

We all need something to hold us over while we wait on Nine Perfect Strangers season 2, Big Little Lies season 3, and The White Lotus season 3 (after you've finished watching and rewatching Expats, of course). And good news! Apples Never Fall will totally satisfy your new TV show craving — and not just because it's based on a book by Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty. The series is thrilling, complex, and has enough twists to keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. If you're feeling on-theme, grab an apple cider cocktail and get cozy. Here's everything we know about Apples Never Fall.

In Apples Never Fall, Annette Bening stars as Joy Delaney, who's struggling to balance her love for her children with the reality that she's feeling unappreciated. Check out this gripping and emotional exclusive clip from the show!

What is the story of the Apples Never Fall?

Image via Peacock

Apples Never Fall (based on the book of the same name by Liane Moriarty) follows the Delaney family: retired tennis coaches Stan and Joy, and their now-adult kids Amy, Troy, Logan, and Brooke. Their time together gets upended when a wounded woman named Savannah shows up at their front door asking for help — and then disappears around the same time Joy goes missing. Now it's up to the kids to figure out where their mom went, and discover whether their parents' marriage was as perfect as it looked. That is, if they don't kill *each other* first. Watch the Apples Never Fall trailer here.

When is the Apples Never Fall release date?

Image via Jasin Boland/Peacock

Apples Never Fall dropped on Peacock March 14, which means you can watch all 7 episodes now! Great for those of us who love to binge watch ;). Wondering what else is coming out this March? Check out our Spring Movie preview!

Who's in the Apples Never Fall cast?

Image via Vince Valitutti/Peacock

Apples Never Fall on Peacock stars Annette Bening, Alison Brie, Jake Lacy, Conor Merrigan-Turner, Sam Neill, and Essie Randles as the Delaney family, while Georgia Flood stars as Savannah.

Where was Apples Never Fall filmed?

Image via Jasin Boland/Peacock

Apples Never Fall started filming in Queensland, Australia starting March 2023. Australia has some seriously beautiful landscapes, and it makes the scope of the show that much more impactful. Not only is it just incredible to see onscreen, but it perfectly contrasts the intensity and ominous feel of the plot — and I'm totally here for it.

What is the ending of Apples Never Fall?

Image via Vince Valitutti/Peacock

Spoiler warning! While the season finale isn't out yet, the ending of the Apples Never Fall book is a fairly positive one. After spending the majority of the story MIA, Joy actually reappears at the end of the novel. She explains that before she left, she wrote a note telling the family she'd be away with Savannah. So when both Savannah and Joy disappeared — and the note got lost — everyone assumed the worst. I guess all's well that ends well?

A lot of our best memories involve our favorite movies. They inspire us and teach us empathy, and when you sprinkle a little Disney pixie dust on them, they become pure magic. Over the last few years, Disney released live action remakes of classic movies including Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Cinderella (which is still one of the best Disney movies ever, TBH). Luckily for us, they're not slowing down these live action additions to their repertoire anytime soon. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming remakes!

The Live-Action Tangled May Have Found Its Rapunzel And Flynn Rider

It looks like a live-action Tangled is in the works, via The DisInsider. After years of fans dreaming up a cast for the movie (Florence Pugh and Ben Barnes are by far the most popular fancasts!), we could have two brand new stars in the running. I genuinely screamed when I found out Mean Girls actress Avantika and School Spirits actor Milo Manheim reportedly screen testedbecause these two would be perfect! Not only would Milo totally nail Flynn's smolder, but Avantika has all the joy and bubbly energy needed to play Rapunzel.

Dwayne Johnson Announces A Live-Action Moana

According to an announcement from Dwayne Johnson (which was shared by Disney CEO Bob Iger), 2016's Moana is being adapted for live action. The film will involve names like producer Auli‘i Cravalho (who voiced the title character in the original movie) and Jared Bush (who wrote the 2016 screenplay).

We love the way that Moana celebrates Pacific Islander traditions — as well as Moana's path to learning more about who she is and who she's becoming.

In an Instagram video on May 19, Cravalho confirmed that she won't be returning to the role of Moana. "I believe it is absolutely vital the casting accurately represents the characters and stories we want to tell," she says in the video. “I cannot wait to help find the next actress to portray Moana’s courageous spirit, undeniable wit, and emotional strength."

Peter Pan & Wendy — On Disney+

Wendy Darling is afraid to leave her childhood home — and her childhood — behind. When she meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up, Wendy and her brothers embark on an exciting journey to Neverland. But a dangerous encounter with the evil Captain Hook changes the course of their lives forever.

Peter Pan & Wendy stars Ever Anderson as Wendy, Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, Jude Law as Captain Hook, and Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell.

The Little Mermaid — On Disney+

16-year-old Ariel is a mermaid who constantly daydreams about life on land, even though her father, King Triton, forbids it. When she rescues the handsome Prince Eric, Ariel makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to become human and join him on land. The exchange just costs Ariel one thing: her voice.

The Little Mermaid features an all-star cast with names like Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Jonah Hauer-King as Eric, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, and Awkwafina as Scuttle.

Snow White — In Theaters March 21, 2025

Snow White lives with her stepmother, the wicked queen, dreaming of love and life outside of the palace. When the queen orders Snow White's murder, she ends up being rescued and going into hiding, so the queen disguises herself as an old woman and tricks the girl into eating a poison apple and falling into a deep sleep.

Rachel Zegler will play the titular role, with Gal Gadot as the evil queen. D23 Expo attendees got a first look at a teaser from the film, but it looks like we'll have to wait a little while longer for an official glimpse.

We do know thanks to Variety that Erin Cressida Wilson and Barbie director Greta Gerwig are behind the script and La La Land songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have added new songs to the soundtrack.

Mufasa: The Lion King — In Theaters December 20, 2024

Image via Disney

This film is a prequel to the 2019 The Lion King, and will feature Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa telling Simba about his father's journey to becoming king. I'm sure we all had plenty of feelings about Mufasa's storyline from the OG movie (and remake), so it's probably safe to say this could be a tear-jerker, too.

Aaron Pierre will star as Mufasa and Kelvin Harrison Jr. will star as Taka.
